Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   how can I help you
User :   hi
User :   Ever since I've developed acid reflux / hyperacidity, I've gotten paranoid about every little symptom. You probably realize this is common for those of us with the problem....and what we usually worry about is cancer. I would like to say I've been on OMEPRAZOLE for almost a week now and it has worked well for me....eliminating most symptoms. That sensation like something's stuck in my throat has remained, but is becoming less and less bothersome. But here's what's bothering me...and it's kind of ironic. I was told when diagnosed with the condition to lose weight. I was at 275 lbs. So about 2 weeks ago, I started really watching what I eat. Whereas in the past, for breakfast I might have eaten 3 scrambled eggs with cheese, 5 slices of bacon and waffles....and for lunch I probably would have eaten 3 ham and cheese and mayonaise sandwiches with a TON of potato chips, for the past 2 weeks a typical breakfast has been a bowl of rice with honey as sweetener and maybe 2 slices of unbuttered toast; a typical lunch might be a bowl of low-fat soup and a piece of celery. So here's the ironic part. I'm getting paranoid BECAUSE I've lost weight....and I've heard that losing weight is a sign of cancer. So should I be concerned that in 2 weeks I'm down from 275 to 268?
Doctor :   Dont bother now
Doctor :   Losing wt is a sign of cancer but only losing wt is not the sign of cancer
Doctor :   it has a multitude of signs and more symptoms too
Doctor :   But I would always defer saying that you need an endoscoapy any how
User :   Would you say that the fact that my symptoms have responded well to OMEPRAZOLE is a good sign that Acid Reflux was the problem?
Doctor :   yes
User :   Ok I'll consider what you said about the endoscopy. But let me just get your gut feeling: Do you feel that losing 7 pounds in 2 weeks is a reasonable amount to have lost considering my diet changes?

Doctor :   Very much usual
User :   Ok, thanks, you've given me some peace of mind.

User :   Oh can I ask one more thing?
User :   for my sister?
Doctor :   Yes

User :   She has sores in her mouth that she's seeing a doctor about.....but they'll go away and then keep coming back
Doctor :   But dont take much time
User :   they've given her antibiotics, told her to eat yogurt, etc.
User :   Any idea what that might be?
Doctor :   They are common canker sores in women
Doctor :   during stress, menstruation
Doctor :   vitamin and nutritional def
Doctor :   nothig to worry about
User :   Ok, that's all. Thanks.
Doctor :   but look for dental cause
Doctor :   first
User :   Ok
User :   thanks, that's all
Doctor :   see if she has any shartp teeth, carious tooth
Doctor :   they may cause
