User :   Hi,I have noticed some recent trouble breathing. It is not so much that I get out of breath - more that it seems difficult to get a full breath. I am also yawning (unsuccessfully) all the time. It comes and goes throughout the day and is not brought on by activity. I also am burbing all the time - very loud long burps - and I feel some relief from that. In general it feels like there is quite a bit of tightness across my chest that makes it difficult to expand. I was a light smoker for 5 years but quit a few months ago. I am 28/f in good health, normal weight and bp - just had an EKG and echo and my heart is completely fine. I can't understand what is happening and I need some relief. What can I do?

Doctor :   ok, Are the symptoms more in any specific time of the day ?

Doctor :   How is it before and after food ?

Doctor :   I mean ,Since how many days ?
User :   about 2 weeks
Doctor :   ok,
Doctor :   I suspect it to be due to acid peptic disease
Doctor :   have you tried any medication for the same ?
User :   i have had some tums antiacids...
User :   but i didn't notice much relief
Doctor :   ok, i would advice you to get an endoscopy done
Doctor :   mild gastritis with excess gastric acid secretion will lead to such symptoms
Doctor :   the gastric acid in the stomach causes production of gas which is burped out and the same gas when filled in stomach and esophagus causes tightness in the chest and breathlessnes
User :   wonderful. that makes a lot of sense.
User :   can i do anything to relieve the symptoms?
Doctor :   yes, can i advice you some home remedies ?
User :   yes please
Doctor :   Cardamom is highly useful home remedy. 5 gm of its powder can be taken with water. Take 5gm each of fried asafetida (by frying in clarified butter, asafetida becomes pure), black salt, cardamom and dry ginger. Make fine powder, mix well and store in a clean bottle. 1/2 teaspoon of this powder can be given along with some lukewarm water 2-3 times a day which instantly gives relief .
User :   thank you
Doctor :   Ginger tea after meals helps
Doctor :   chewing cloves about 2 to 3 per day
Doctor :   Eating slowly or have small meals
- Avoiding chewing gum and carbonated drinks
- Excessive consumption of onions and chocolates may also cause burping.Avoid such foods
- Avoid alcohol especially among individuals suffering from chronic belching or excessive belching
- Reducing stress, following exercise tips from medical practitioners and inducing relaxation can help treat belching
Doctor :   follow above tips for better relief
User :   excellent, thank you
Doctor :   You are welcome
User :   Take care. I appreciate your assistance.
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me , kindly provide your feedback
Doctor :   Bye for now
User :   Bye
Doctor :   you too, have good times ahead
