User :   I have had two MRI's 2009 and 2011. Tingling and numbness were presenting symptoms and symptoms were in face arms legs and bilateral. Plaque noted in small arteries in first MRI 2nd MRI noted no from 2009 and MRI otherwise clean. Microvascular disease listed possible condition. Blood pressure borderline high, no diabetes, all bloodwork good. I am 20 pds overweight, age 62, do not smoke and get very little exercise. I understand there is no prevention or treatment for microvascular disease. My mother had heart attack on her 47th birthday and was disabled. There is much heart disease in family. I take fish oil, vitamin D, calcium magnesium. I have been highly stressed for 2 years, death of mother, marriage of son, spouse lost job. I attributed the tingling and numbness to stress but was placed on neurontin and cymbalta. These drugs help but symptoms do not go away. I also take metropol but d/c'd thiazide med because of allergic reaction. I do not take cholesteral medication. I obviously would not know that I have this disease except for the MRI. What do you suggest? Is there treatment? What is the progression? Stress relief will not happen due to serious financial difficulties. Do you have suggestions?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Please give me a few moments to go through your query .
Doctor :   Ok.
User :   Is what I wrote understandable? I left out a word, 2011 MRI with contrast and without showed no changes.
Doctor :   May I know your gender please ?
User :   Sorry, Female
Doctor :   Ok, No worries.
Doctor :   Now let me give you some advise that I can as i can not examine you in person and have lot of constraints without seeing your actual reports.
Doctor :   Hope you understand.
User :   Of course. Thank you. I have a great neurologist and a wonderful internist. I just got the letter on the MRI today and thought I would explore this a bit.
Doctor :   1. Are you consulting a primary or a cardiologist on regular basis for your ill ness ?
User :   No, I do have a cardiologist but have not seen her in several years. Geez I sound like a hypochondriac! Because of my mom's illness I had stress test several years ago. Chest pains then but no tingling or numbness. Heart was great several years ago. I do have mild chest pains, and my carotid (sp?) artery neck? pulses hard often at night, not continuously. Should I revisit my cardiologist and/or my internist?
Doctor :   1. I want you to understand that every family and every human has ups and downs in life and you should not be depressed or stressed for something for which you were not the cause, I understand the pain you are in and on the other side your family problems, But I feel you are brave enough to fight them out.
Doctor :   Not at all, you dont sound to me like a Hypochondriac as I have seen patients with Microvascular disease and the pain they are in , the amount of drugs they have to take.
Doctor :   Now let me give you a few steps in a nut shell : Doctor :   Hope I am not confusing you ?
Doctor :   1. Please start taking Statins or Cholesterol reducing drugs immediately.
User :   Not at all. I am a psychotherapist so I appreciate how much stress exacerbates our physical situations. I know I can exercise, I do meditate but not regularly. I do eat very health food. I think I am a bit scared. Thanks.
Doctor :   2. For that Please do visit your Cardiologist for that medications.
Doctor :   That is very good to know .
Doctor :   3. Please do also start on Nitroglycerin to relax blood vessels, improve blood flow to the heart muscle, and treat chest pain (if this medicine has helped the you with past symptoms
Doctor :   4.Aspirin to help prevent blood clots or control inflammation
Doctor :   5. And the life style modification and food habits are the ones which you are already following.
Doctor :   So I feel a Cardiologist opinion would be helpful in that.
Doctor :   Thank you for consulting me.
