Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   I am Dr. xxxxx
User :   My 5 year old daughter has a fever hovering close to 103F. Heartbeat at 130bpm. Give her liquid Advil (1 tsp) about 4 hours ago and Benadryl (3/4 tsp) about 3 hours ago. Been using warm compresses to keep fever down around 102.5 Any need for concern or further action? Thanks, AAAAAAA
Doctor :   Since how long she is running the temperature?
User :   About 8- 12 hours
Doctor :   Did you record the serial temperatures since then?
Doctor :   Can you tell me now? I am wondering if it is acutely rising?
User :   No. Haven't recorded anything This is all associated with a cold, cough and congestion.
User :   No it was at 102 earlier this evening
Doctor :   is this the first time she has got such compliants and so high temperature?
User :   I got it down to 101
Doctor :   At this point I prefer to monitor the girl for half a day in hospital rather than at home
Doctor :   More over Advil shall not help in reducing the temperature
Doctor :   Tylenol is better than Advil
User :   yes, first time
Doctor :   Tylenol can be given once every 4 to 6 hours
User :   she has complained
Doctor :   for better control of temperature
User :   ok
User :   we will give another does of advil
User :   does the heart rate concern you?
Doctor :   Heart rate can rise because of temperature
Doctor :   so it is physiologically normal at this temperature
Doctor :   I shall be worried about the complications of high temperature
Doctor :   if her temperature is not controlled
Doctor :   More over if it is an infectious process, an early dose of antibiotic can help to control the temperature
User :   ok, we are going to give her the advil and some more compresses and have her see a Dr in the morning
Doctor :   It is tepid water sponging and not warm water
Doctor :   tepid is lesser than warm water
User :   at what temp should we really be concerned and maybe take her to the ER>
Doctor :   102
User :   Yes, compresses luke warm or less but not cold
Doctor :   I think you have to monitor her this whole night
Doctor :   It shall take away your rest and need lot of patience
User :   really 102? she is hovering there now. Do you think we should see what effect the Advil has before taking her?
Doctor :   Yes 102
Doctor :   As I told you Tylenol is better than Advil
Doctor :   You can wait for an hour after a dose of Tylenol
User :   Ok I will try and location a store with Tylenol. It is late here. OK, well thank you for your help.
User :   I am going to sing off
User :   Thank you.
Doctor :   Thank you
Doctor :   Bye for now
