User :   I took a test some days back for Hepatitis B and it came out positive, so I went in for a Liver function test and I was given the following parameter in my result: 1.BIL (total) 0.85
2.BIL (DIR) 0.33
3. SGOT 23
4. SGPT 8
5. ALK.PHOS 160.1
Please I would love to know what steps to take next? I'm 28years old and a male.thank you.
Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   Dr. XXXXXXXX here
Doctor :   let me read what you have typed.
Doctor :   bilirubin total is normal, direct is bit elevated, SGOT is very high, SGPT is elevated, ALK PHOSP is also raised
Doctor :   are you on any treatment at present?
User :   I'm not on any treatment
Doctor :   liver function tests are suggestive of acute liver damage, they will slowly settle down with treatment
User :   Any prescription for me pls
Doctor :   since Hapatitis B came positive, go ahead with checking for the titers for viral load and antibody response, get started on antivirals to control ongoing infection and prevention of chronic state
Doctor :   also be in rest, have a good diet (bland and simple), along with regular follow-up and LFT tests every 15 days to see if values are reducing.
Doctor :   *Hepatitis
Doctor :   your prescription wil depend on further test results
Doctor :   what symptoms do you have at present?
User :   So wat antivirals do u think I should go for considering the lengthy period it takes for viral load results to come out. And at present I am not experienciencing any symptoms.I feel very strong and healthy
Doctor :   antivirals are prescription drugs that are given with dose adjustment after the cause is exactly made out. Since the exact details are not there, it is inappropriate and unethical to prescribe you scheduled drugs. Hence see the doctor/gastroenterologist for the medicine that you require.
