User :   small short headache after whey protein shake?

User :   Hi
Doctor :   how can i help u ?
User :   I recently started taking 100% whey protein and after taking it, i felt small short headache. Is this normal?
Doctor :   has this happened before
Doctor :   usually this could be due to work out related issues as well
User :   No. I just started taking protein shake 2 days before after working out
Doctor :   usually taking such protein supplements do not cause headache
User :   so what could i be?
User :   I never felt headaches after working out
Doctor :   CAN U TELL ME what were u doing when they started in the first place ?
User :   Ok. I started my workout at 6 pm today. and finished workout in 1 hour. After 15 minutes, I took 1.5 scoops (~40 gm) protein with water and 1 spoon honey.
User :   After 15 min or so, I started feeling headaches
User :   This happnd with me yesterday also.
Doctor :   did they subside after taking rest ?
Doctor :   how long did they last ?
Doctor :   did u have any nausea , etc ?
User :   Yesterday they lasted till night. I was normal when I woke up in the morning.
User :   No.
User :   I am fit and normal.
Doctor :   ok
User :   But in the morning breakfast I again took 1 scoop protein with curd and honey .. and I didnt felt any headache in morning.
Doctor :   i dont think this is associated with the the protine shake
User :   Then what could it be? How can I avoid it next time?
User :   Is it because of taste?
Doctor :   try to take some ibuprofen
Doctor :   before 30 min before u work out
User :   Ok. What does this do?
Doctor :   this will relieve any pain that can arise due to stress and associated with workout
User :   Ok. But are you sure it is not because of whey protein ?

Doctor :   it is not due to protein
User :   because some other people at forums reported same thing.
Doctor :   i am sure about it
Doctor :   there are many people who can associate the headache
Doctor :   but it is not actually due to the shake
User :   Ok.
Doctor :   you can stop taking the shake for a few days and still work out
Doctor :   if the headaches persist , it will be due to workouts and not due to the shakes
User :   Ok.
Doctor :   if the headache stops, even after extensive workout, , then it could mean, u have intolerance to the protein
Doctor :   but there are a lot of guys who do not report having such issues
Doctor :   so i can safely say that , you can take it without any issues
User :   It can be because of taste. Because in morning, I mix curd + bananna + honey which makes it tastier. But after workout, I take with water which is yuck!!!
Doctor :   the taste of any food, can make you not drink it
Doctor :   but it will not produce a headache
User :   ok. I will try not taking shake for 2-3 days and report you again if headache persists.
