Doctor:Good afternoon
Doctor:How can I help you ?
User:I have few questions regarding my problem with sinus
Doctor:Yes, please proceed
User:I believe it is rhino-sinusitis
Doctor:Yes, there is such a condition
User:The history is .. I had mild asthma during childhood
User:however it was gone later .. and for about 7-8 years I din't face this problem
User:Also I used to have problem of cold, sneezing, blocked nose .. and this has become severe for last 1.5 years now
User:I use inhaler (Aerocort) for asthma, whenever I feel mild problem in breathing
User:and I take Montek LC tablets for cold .. I have used lots of anti allergics like Avil, Cetrizine during earlier years
User:I also started using Fluxonase nasal sprays
User:and occassionally use Otrivin for Blocked nose
User:so would need to know, what tests or treatments I should look for, so that I do not have to rely on these medicines, as the problem is getting severe with time
Doctor:A test named Absolute Eosinophil count is a parameter which measure the allergic response in one
Doctor:If the count is high, it indicates the presence of active allergic response.
Doctor:Then you can get on to the treatment
Doctor:Also if you experience any breathlessnes then you may have to go for a PFT (Pulmonary function test) which indicates the lung condition based on which you can b put on relevant medication
User:ok, thanks for this information .. I'll go for these two tests
Doctor:Regular steam inhalations with eucalyptus in it keeps the upper airway mucosa healthy and prevents infections or irritations
Doctor:A pinch of turmeric in a glass of milk taken daily can reduce the episodes of such allergies
User:I used to have milk earlier, but I felt that whenever I have milk, I get the cold, sneezing, blocked nose the next day
User:same is the case if I have banana
User:so I have stopped taking milk completely
Doctor:You can have turmeric mixed in a spoon of honey
User:ok, I'll try that ... I often do steam inhalations with eucalyptus oil
Doctor:That's good to hear, do continue the same
Doctor:Is there anything else, I can help you with ?
User:I am not sure if this question is valid here
Doctor:Yes, I can help you with that
Doctor:You can consult any of the specialist there
User:I'll follow the same
Doctor:You are welcome
Doctor:Is there anything else,I can help you with ?
User:No, thats all I needed to know.
User:Thanks !
Doctor:Bye for now
Doctor:Take care
