User:Hi Doctor
Doctor:How are you?
User:I had a concern with my ears feeling blocked sometimes
User:I'm quite good..
Doctor:Since when do you have this feeling?
User:it's been there since past 7-8 years
Doctor:Is there any associated hearing loss?
Doctor:Do you feel you can hear less from one ear?
User:yes i do, i feel i can hear less from my left ear
Doctor:Is there any fluid coming out from a ear?
User:but it's only when i'm listening to music with earphones.
Doctor:Is your nose blocked?
User:No, it isn't..
Doctor:What about any fluid coming from the ear?
User:no, i do not have fluid coming from XXXXXXX ear
Doctor:There are 2 possibilities XXXXXXX
Doctor:It can be impacted wax
Doctor:or it can be Eustachian tube dysfunction
Doctor:These 2 can be differentiated only with an examination
Doctor:Eustachian tube dysfunction means that the tube connecting the nose and the ear
Doctor:is not functioning very well
User:should I visit an ENT specialist?
Doctor:apart from that
Doctor:you should try the Valsalva maneuver
Doctor:In this , you first inhale
Doctor:and then exhale with your nostrils closed and mouth shut
Doctor:So you push the ear out towards your ears
User:Yes, I practise it usually
Doctor:Does it help?
User:i didn't know about the particular technique
User:but since i feel my ears blocked, i do that since it unblocks my ears
Doctor:In all probability then its eustachian tube dysfunction
Doctor:You should take steam
Doctor:and see an ENT specialist
User:it was just out like a workaround
Doctor:since the drugs which are required are prescription
Doctor:and they need an examination
Doctor:Do you fly often?
User:no, i do not fly often
Doctor:Thats it I guess
User:Will the prescriptions cure it completely? or will I have to take the prescription regularly?
Doctor:They will not
Doctor:What I suggest is you take steam
User:Ok. with normal water, right?
Doctor:and practice this valsalva
Doctor:that should do
Doctor:but see an ENT
Doctor:we may need to remove the wax
User:Is it since I have the feeling that i hear less from one ear?
Doctor:Even eustachian tube dysfunction can lead to that
Doctor:but wax is something you cant rule out
Doctor:we need an exam for that
User:I'll visit an ENT very soon.
User:Thank you very much Dr XXXXXXX
Doctor:Is there anything else I can help witj?
User:Nothing else is bothering me. Thank you very much Doctor.
Doctor:Thanks for consulting me
