Doctor:Dr XXXXXXX here
Doctor:How can I help you?
User:Hi doctor
User:I needed information on baby XXXXXXX
Doctor:Proceed with your query.
User:My son is 6 month old and in the last 3 - 4days he does not seem to have much appetite
User:he does not cry for feeds and even if we feed he does not show much interest.
User:he is passing motion daily once though and also urinates often
User:So wanted to know if this is normal
Doctor:May I know if your son is active otherwise?
User:yes he is active.
Doctor:Is he drowsy or running fever?
Doctor:Let me brief you.
User:its only that he is comparatively having less feeds as compared to earlier
Doctor:Appetite in a pediatric patient depends on his/her body needs.
Doctor:I would be concerned if your son is less active, running fever, having vomiting or diarrhea.
Doctor:On the long run, if reduced appetite is affecting his developemental mile stones and growth.
Doctor:If none of these factors are affected, then low appetite is not concerned.
Doctor:Your son will feed as per his requirement.
Doctor:Restrict giving him high calorie diet such as sweets, chocolates, ice cream, etc.
Doctor:And visit your doctor and try deworming if he hasn't undergone one yet.
User:ok. Can it be psycological? Since i have resumed work last week and not giving him breast feed.
User:though i had started weaning last month itself
Doctor:If he was being used to breast feed, then that could be a cause.
Doctor:Weaning is a gradual process
Doctor:where his usual feed is gradually withdrawn
Doctor:while adding a new diet.
Doctor:If you have stopped breast milk abruptly, then probably you need to change that.
Doctor:Withdraw breast feeding gradually while supplementing new feeds is the best way to wean.
User:Ok. Thank you doctor, will also check on deworming.
Doctor:You are welcome.
Doctor:Do you have any other query?
User:No doctor. Thank you.
Doctor:Thanks for the query.
Doctor:*consulting me.
Doctor:Bye for now.
