Doctor:The symptoms that you have is very common in any viral infection.
Doctor:In view of your test being negative, this is unlikely to be related to HIV.
Doctor:I am sure, these symptoms will improve in another couple of days.

User:sir this is 31st day after my exposure , for my satisfaction can i go for hiv test
User:which test ?
Doctor:You can get a repeat test, to allay any fear you have.
Doctor:Since you are in the window period, getting the usual HIV antibody test like ELISA / westernblot/p24 antigen test is in appropriate.
Doctor:If you wish to repeat the test, then you need to the PCR test done again.
User:ok i go for dna pcr doctor
User:1 doubt
User:whats s the window period for dna pcr
Doctor:Window period is only meant for antibody detection test such as those I mentioned earlier.
Doctor:For the PCR test, we do not refer any thing like Window period.
Doctor:Meaning, there is no window period for it.
User:so 2 weeks is confirmatory right
Doctor:I see another doctor had asked you to repeat the test after a while.
Doctor:The test was not to doubt the accuracy of the test,
Doctor:I mean to doubt the results of the test,
User:yes he said go for 4 weeks elisa duo test
Doctor:but rather some doctors believe DNA PCR test are more reliable and accurate when done after a period of a month, than during early period.
Doctor:ELISA duo test is a combination test which looks for antibody as well as P24 antigen.
Doctor:Sometimes P24 antigen can be seen after 4 weeks,
Doctor:but this test is less sensitive than DNA PCR.
Doctor:If you have had negative PCR, the chance that you will have a postive P24 antigen is very unlikely.
Doctor:If you are still apprehensive, you can go ahead and get the ELISA Duo test as suggested.
Doctor:It will alleviate all your doubts.
Doctor:Thus leading to better quality of life.
User:ok doctor i wil go only dna pcr
