Doctor:Since how long have you been doing this?
User:since last 15yrs
Doctor:And in a day how many times do you do it?
User:5 times
Doctor:Do you also smoke?
Doctor:May I know your age?
Doctor:Let me brief you.
Doctor:Tobacco in any form causes produces its effects from
Doctor:1. Nicotine content in it.
Doctor:2. Physical irritation / smoke damage.
Doctor:Both these factors are responsible to cause addiction.
Doctor:To quit this habit needs lot of personal motivation and effort. There is no replacement to these.
Doctor:Therefore, if you are motivated there are few other measures
Doctor:that can help you quit this habit.
Doctor:I shall first describe those aiding measures.
Doctor:1. The first aiding measure is nicotine supplements.
Doctor:Currently there are nicotine gums / nicotine patches available easily at any nearby chemist.
Doctor:One such brand is nicorret.
User:i have already tried the same
Doctor:This is basically a chewing gum which can be taken whenever you get the urge to chew tobacco.
Doctor:In addition to this gum, you also need to reduce the frequency of chewing tobacco for maximum benefit.
Doctor:It wouldn't help much, if you take the gum along with persistent tobacco chewing.
Doctor:What I recommend to my patient
Doctor:who do not find such supplements useful is
Doctor:Instead of completely quitting the habit to alter the use of supplement with tobacco.
Doctor:Over a period of few weeks, slowly reduce the number of tobacco (the time between 2 tobacco).
Doctor:I would suggest the same to you.
Doctor:Such gradual tapering with the supplements have helped a few individuals.
Doctor:2. The second option available
Doctor:when no improvement is seen with nicotine supplement is medications.
