User :   had unprotected vaginal sex with high risk individual 21/2 to 3 years ago.Experiencing night sweats last 3 weeks. no fever, no other significant symptoms except mild case of angular chelitas for about 1-2 months.
Current gf has had 1+ of severe flu symptoms. very concerned about possible hiv infecion
Doctor :   hello
User :   i just noticed my name. is this confidential?
Doctor :   may i know your age please
Doctor :   dont worry its 100% CONFIDENTIAL
User :   50
Doctor :   so that last time you had intercourse with a risk group person was 3 years back ?
User :   yes
Doctor :   did you took any tests ?
User :   no. afraid
Doctor :   well ok
Doctor :   now the thing is that it takes about 3 months if you are infected with HIV to show positive in a test
Doctor :   HIV can lay dormant for months and years at time
Doctor :   how is your health ?
Doctor :   any other medical condition ??
User :   Seems fine. no other symptoms. have had a DVT in July. I have been having occaisoanl headaches, but nothing major. Blood tests normal WBC 7.5.
Doctor :   well then its basically the flu that has gotten you from your GF
User :   also seem to be losing muscle mass. may be more imaginaiton, but weight is pretty conssitent
User :   wouldnt the flu produce other symptoms as well? Fever, etc.. by the way, headaches have been off and on for 2 months. Angualr Chelitas seems to be gone, but still burning sensation around mouth
Doctor :   well i know you are scared but if this mental tension is getting too much i suggest you get the HIV test done as that will put you at ease
User :   I cernatinly understand the logic, however a positive would explode my life and business given the nature of my relationships. I know it is impossbble for you to tell me that i do not have it. I guess i am looking for an analysis of my symptoms which might help me at least understand my risk
Doctor :   you do realize that we cannot run away from our fears from ever
Doctor :   sooner or later we will have to face them
User :   Fair enough. So does that mean you think my symptoms could be a sign of hiv?
Doctor :   like you said ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO say so also since your GF does have a flu
Doctor :   so you might be just having a minor infection
Doctor :   but its you who has to make the call
