User :   i had a an HIV duo test after 27 days of a possible exposure. the result came negative with an index of 0.36 where cutoff is 1.what does this index mean and why is it high and not just 0. is my body producing antigene now and will reach a the 1 index later?
Doctor :   hi
User :   hello
Doctor :   I am Dr.
User :   should i repeat the questions?
Doctor :   What is the test name?
User :   hiv 1 and 2 + p24 ag
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Is it Elisa test
Doctor :   Elcisa test?
Doctor :   Western blot test?
User :   meia
Doctor :   Whatever the test may be,
Doctor :   It is negative now
Doctor :   Let me tell u ..
User :   what about the 0.36
User :   and unit s/co
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   when a test is designed, it is usually done on HIV patients
Doctor :   So when the patient has antibodies the test will detect the antibidoes
Doctor :   they will define the parameters
Doctor :   Here the test only detects if antibdoes are more than 1
Doctor :   it will not detects antibodies if it is less than 1
User :   so what did it detect to give theh value 0.36?
User :   and is the period 27 days enough to get a conclusive test?
Doctor :   Your question needs little research
Doctor :   Can you provide email I will email the answer
User :   YYYY@YYYY
User :   overall should i be worried... go for another test?
Doctor :   Over all impression,
Doctor :   I read lot of tests
Doctor :   Honestly
Doctor :   I do not worry how to read the test
Doctor :   I will see what is normal and what is abnormal
Doctor :   reading test values, setting the test values is under the control of research fellows
Doctor :   A clinician look at the the interpretation of the pathologist
Doctor :   That is all
Doctor :   Your interpretation is NEGATIVE
Doctor :   Now we, are going into into the mechanism of how the test is performed and what is measured, and what amount is measured
Doctor :   Those details are too much details
User :   is it enough to be tested iwth this method just 27 days after poddible exposure/?
Doctor :   About 2-8 weeks after exposure, antibodies to HIV are produced and remain detectable in response to the infection, making the HIV antibody test the most useful assay to diagnose an infection.
Doctor :   so your is almost 4 weeks
Doctor :   so it is fair enough to say your body has not produced any antibodeioes
Doctor :   That means it is negative
User :   ok ,,, i guess you have answered all my worries,,,, thanks
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   Do you have any other questions?
Doctor :   Levels of p24 antigen increase significantly at about one to three weeks after initial infection. It is during this time frame before HIV antibody is produced when the p24 test is useful in helping to diagnose infection.
User :   i had a cold syptmos 4 weeks after this exposure and i was worried
User :   but i guess theh test reslutls are conclusive
Doctor :   Cold is not a symptom of HIV
Doctor :   It is a concurance
User :   ok thanks,,thats it
Doctor :   thank you for consulting
Doctor :   Bye
Doctor :   Take care
User :   thanks
