User :   we have heard that in Manipal you dont get personal touch during consultation
Doctor :   I am sorry, I wasn't exposed to obstetric and Gynecology department at Manipal hospital while I was there.
Doctor :   My suggestions to you are based on the review given by the people both on net and while I was at Manipal hospital.
Doctor :   You could see the doctor at their clinic than at the Hospital,
Doctor :   however, if the consultation is for a procedure or evaluation, I feel consulting them at the hospital is best.

User :   is it better to consult permanent consultant or visiting one?
Doctor :   You mean at Manipal hospital?
Doctor :   The choice of the doctor will depend on the needs of the patient.
Doctor :   If you are looking for regular and frequent follow ups, consider a doctor who is easily available, preferrably at both hospital and clinic.

Doctor :   Are you there?
User :   ya just a min
User :   How many scans we have to do during pregnancy?
User :   My wife is pregnant and its almost 7 weeks... we have not had any scans yet
Doctor :   A minimum of 2 scans is essential - one in the beginning of pregnancy that is before 12 weeks the other after 36 weeks of pregnancy(just before delivery).
Doctor :   Routinely doctors may suggest you another scan between these 2 scans.
User :   What are the precautions we should take currently?
Doctor :   Further scans may be suggested, if doctor feels they are essential.
User :   so that there are more chances of normal delivery
Doctor :   Is this the first pregnancy?
User :   yes
User :   what about food & diet that should be followed ?
Doctor :   Has she been evaluated(tested) by a gynecologist?
User :   we have done blood test and thats it

User :   yes the reports were normal
Doctor :   May I know if she has symptoms such as nausea and vomiting?
User :   she has some sensations early morning... but never vomited yet during this time
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   If the reports are normal, then there are no specific diet restrictions.
Doctor :   However one needs to consume plenty of vegetables and fruits along with iron rich diet.
Doctor :   This is to keep her hemoglobin levels under limits and to avoid any vitamin deficiencies as both can lead to complications.
Doctor :   Avoid using high spicy diet and oily diet.
Doctor :   She needs to eat regularly, small frequent meals are better than eating to full stomach.
Doctor :   This is because vomiting is very common during early pregnancy and can be a concerning problem.
Doctor :   She needs to avoid constipation by consuming plenty of water and high fiber diet.
Doctor :   Finally, there are few people who have had abortion early during the pregnancy, hence avoid strenous physical activities such as
Doctor :   running, jumping, lifting weight.
Doctor :   A more physical rest she has the better it is.
Doctor :   Along with these, regularly using iron and folic acid medications will avoid further complications.
User :   any precautions we should take to increase chances of normal delivery?
Doctor :   Right now, there are no measures, however
Doctor :   some pelvic exercise
Doctor :   will be suggested during the final 3 months of pregnancy
Doctor :   They will help her chances of normal delivery.
Doctor :   Concentrate on consuming iron rich diet with proper sleep now.
User :   she is taking folic acid tablets
User :   but no iron medications
Doctor :   Yes, these medications are very essential for the normal brain development your growing child.
Doctor :   Iron supplements are essential if she develops anemia.
Doctor :   Use iron rich diet such spinach, pumkings, beans and other vegetables.
Doctor :   Non vegetarian diet such as meat and liver are also rich in iron.
Doctor :   If you can supplement these and other iron rich diet,
Doctor :   then you can avoid the use of iron tablets.
Doctor :   However, your doctor will regularly check her hemoglobin levels
User :   she is pure veg... and her current hemoglobin level is 12.1%
Doctor :   and if at any point, the hemoglobin levels fall, then iron tablets will be suggested.
Doctor :   12gm percent is good.
Doctor :   So currently no restriction apart from proper nutrition and rest.
Doctor :   Pelvic exercises will be suggested if needed during the final 3 months,
User :   ok
Doctor :   These measures apart from the medications given to you will help in delivering the baby normally and without complication.
User :   ok thanks doctor
User :   it was very helpful
Doctor :   It was my pleasure.
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   no thank
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor :   Wish you and your partner a healthy pregnancy period.
Doctor :   Good night.
Doctor :   Bye for now.
