User :   I have a high level of crp (6.0) and am very concerned. My doctor does not see reason for alarm but intuituvely I feel like inflamation will most likely lead to something....Should I go on the anti inflmation diet? I had non-hodgkins in 2000 and my spleen was removed, could that also be contributing to my high crp value?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   wt symptoms do you have now ?
User :   Well I keep having a high crp level when tested (blood) and my inflammation test with urine are off the charts. As far as symptons not sure.....I will say that i was just diagnosed with granuloma annular...the skin thing
Doctor :   ok
User :   I also will say that I get stressed super easy and have had a hard time sleeping. I now take 100 mg of Elavil a day so that has allowed me to sleep better....what do you think about inflammation?
Doctor :   CRP is one of the acute phase reactant and mere increased levels do not warrant any action
User :   But a doubled value? What would cause this? I am 48 years old...
Doctor :   as u said you get super stresed that also can cause the crp level to raise
User :   So I do not have an increased risk for artthritis, diabeties..heart issues.??
Doctor :   crp is neither indicative of any disease
User :   What would you suggest to lower the value?
Doctor :   if you have arthritis than the crp will defenitely increase
User :   I do not but my grandmother has a very severe case, I do not want to get it...
Doctor :   even if you get fever for long time u can notice your crp level will ge high
Doctor :   arthritis is age related
User :   Ok, I have been checked several times and I always am off the charts, even when I am healthy? What is causing it?
Doctor :   if you do not want to get arthritis than u need to have a life style modification,
Doctor :   as i said earlier even if you get fever the crp values can raise
Doctor :   if ur stessed the crp levels can be raised
User :   Ok, let me about that but I also want to know why the medical industry has set a level of 3.0 for this value? What is the point?
User :   If you test for it, find a high value and just tell people its no big deal that does not seem appropirate to me. So I am specifically looking for the best way to reduce it....even if it is not indicative of any disease. So what foods, diet, etc. do you recommend ?
Doctor :   first of all why did the doctor check for the crp
User :   I was at a health clinic that checked bone density, sonogram major veins, and they did blood work, the only thing that came back abnormal was the crp.
Doctor :   ok what do you understand about crp ?
User :   I have researched it on the net and find alot of studies going on...from what I see it appears it may, at some time in the future be a link to illness. I even saw a study that linked it to macrodegenratvie eye disease...I know that is spelled wrong. Sorry..
Doctor :   ok
User :   So for some reason it is out there, people are looking into it and at the end of the day, if I have a high level, and I am healthy, what should I do to reduce it?
Doctor :   it is good healthy diet and non stressful life that REDUCES INFLAMATION in our body
Doctor :   may i know your height and weight ?
User :   I am 5ft 5 In and weigh 176 pounds.
Doctor :   in you the specific advise is reduce the stress levels to reduce the crp levels
Doctor :   crp does not always indicate disease
Doctor :   in your menstural days also the crp will be high
User :   I am in memopause and only have 3 cycles a year.
User :   So why is there a level of 3.0 if it does not mean anything?
User :   And how is the blood test different from the urine test?
Doctor :   the level is in an ideal limit
Doctor :   and it is seen in a person who does nt have any physical disease or mental disease and or injury
Doctor :   the levels in the urine will be less than wt it is in blood, it indicates the renal filtration of the crp
Doctor :   you are diagnosed to have granuloma annularis since when
User :   about 3 months ago, it appeared to have stopped growing but now it has started again...
Doctor :   ok
User :   I have acutally had the circled area on my right lower leg for over a year, the first docotor I say said it was ringworm but that was wrong
Doctor :   the levels of crp vary with the grannuloma annularis activity
User :   so there is a link between them?
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   granuloma annularis is inflammatory condition of the skin
User :   no cure right? so what should I do?
User :   So it is manifesting physically..
Doctor :   neither of it is life threatening and will not cause any problem so need not worry
Doctor :   only concern is cosmetic it is unacceptable
User :   is there a way to test your level of cortisol?
Doctor :   yes the blood test is there to test cortisol
Doctor :   you can get the blood cortisol levles checked in laboratory
User :   Should I take that test to determine if I have a high level which could link my crp to my stress level? I do not know how else to do this, I eat organic foods, meditate, try to relax but I do get panic and have been under stress for many years. As I am trying to improve my lifestyle, the values are not long does it take to see a difference?
User :   I have been working on this for like 8 months.
Doctor :   yes you can undergo the cortisol levels,
Doctor :   determination in blood
Doctor :   but the best way is to answer the qustionaries given by the physician to know the levels of stress in you
Doctor :   as your physician to check for stress levels in you
Doctor :   ask*
User :   ok, one more question..
Doctor :   yes please
User :   I take 100 mg of Elavil each doctor said the largest side affect is a dry throat, my voice seems to be getting that something else or just the elavil?
User :   Are you from a foreign country?
Doctor :   it is the side effect of elavil
User :   I am in the US
User :   The reason I am asking about where you are located is due to the fact that I am also intersted in alternate therapies...
User :   hello
User :   Are you still there?
