User :   I am so tired and lethargic. If I lay down in the day I will fall asleep within 5 mins. I get enough hours sleep but every morning, walking the children to school I yawn so much. I started going to the gym but was even yawning when I was exercising. My head feels foggy all the time because I am so tired. I often go pale and feel washed out and my husband can see that I need to have a rest. I need some help, each day is so tiring and my children are sick of hearing how "Mummy needs a rest"! Blood tests previously have come up with nothing apart from slightly low iron but not anaemia.
I have a history of digestive issues since having children and get constipated but try to drink plenty of water to combat this. My hormones are all over the place as my period timings keep changing and I now get sharp, but short-lived pain near my ovaries before, around ovulation time and during and after my period.
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   I am Dr.
Doctor :   Let me read the query
Doctor :   Please give me a couple of minutes
Doctor :   I have few questions for you
Doctor :   May I know your age, height and weight?
User :   age 37, height 5ft 5 in, weight 13st 3. I am putting on weight as I am constantly eating to try to stop feeling so tired!
Doctor :   Since how long you are having the current symptoms?
User :   comes and goes. Have always been a tired person but paticularly bad the last few months
User :   hormones up and down over last 12months, with new collostrum type stuff from breast area that I have never had before
Doctor :   When were the hormonal profile done, I would like to know if the following are done, Thyroid function tests, LH, FSH, Prolactin?
User :   Thyroid was normal, not sure about other hormonal ones as haven't mentioned to Dr. Liver function done and fine as had obstetric cholestasis 6 years ago and they sometimes test
Doctor :   When were these tests done?
User :   6 months ago
Doctor :   In my opinion the symptoms are related to two things and they are to be specifically tested to find out the cause
Doctor :   1) Hormonal
Doctor :   2) Nutritional
Doctor :   So a anemia profiling, Iron profile, Thyroid function tests, Prolactin etc are to be redone now
Doctor :   though they are normal
Doctor :   6 months back
Doctor :   You have to be referred to an Endocrinologist to be able to help you better in funneling the cause
Doctor :   Till then, continue on the mild exercise
User :   i dont know how to convince my dr that i need to see an endocrinologist
Doctor :   Iron rich diet
Doctor :   You have a right to receive the best possible treatment
Doctor :   If the GP cannot treat your clinical symptoms
Doctor :   then atleast he should consider a referral
