User :   I was recently diagnosed with GERD and am supposed to have surgery Monday. I never had any problems with acid reflux until about 9 months ago it flared up. I never have had heart burn, just real bad pain and pressure in my upper abdomen. It flared up so bad that I had trouble getting off the couch to do anything. In that time I had a scope, manometry, and a PH study. I am supposed to have surgery on Monday for the lap nissen. I have not had a flare up or taken any medicine since August. My doctor says I still should have the surgery because damage is their and there are cellular changes. Is it possible the GERD is doing damage and I am just not feeling it?
