User :   I keep having sexual thoughts. Not thoughts about sex, but about visits to the Dr.s office, where they would give me a pelvic exam. My vagina tightens up everytime I think about it, and I get really nervous. I have dreams about going to the Dr.s and them giving me all sorts of exams. I have recurrent thoughts about past unpleasant "sexual" experiences and advances towards me- during the day as well as the night. I've never been in a relationship and have never had sex. Not interested in sex, either. I don't know how to tell my therapist what is going on. I searched the internet last night for advice for those who fear gynacological exams, and (I'm ashamed to say) watched a video of one. I hope it wasn't illegal. I'm pretty sure it wasn't, but am now afraid of being arrested as well. I'm just caught up in this whole thing and don't know how to get out. I'm so ashamed and embarrassed.
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Let me read the query.
Doctor :   May i know your age?
User :   29
Doctor :   Since when are you having these symptoms?
User :   it's been going on for a while. It comes and goes. One minute I"m fine, the next week, I'll be a wreck
User :   it's gotten progressively worse over the years
Doctor :   How often do you get these thoughts?
Doctor :   Do the occur every day?
User :   it depends. The last few days they've been pretty constant
User :   yes, pretty much every day, but then I'll be fine for a week or so, or even longer
Doctor :   And how do you react to these phobias, I mean apart from the tightening of the genital organs, do you have any other symptoms?
User :   Shortness of breath, lots and lots of shame
User :   i'm crying right now
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me brief you.
Doctor :   Phobias are one of the psychological conditions which can be treated easily when you get medical advice early.
Doctor :   There are various forms of treatment for this which includes both medical drugs and therapies.
Doctor :   Medical drugs such as those given for anxiety help in treating your symptoms alone.
Doctor :   You can use the help of the drugs if your symptoms are not frequent and are mild.
User :   but if it's a phobia, why do I keep thinking about it?
User :   I see every person who passes me by as a Dr. who might perform the exam. It seems so awkward
User :   I hope it's not some kind of sexual perversion
Doctor :   The answer for this query is possible only after a face to face counselling with a psychologist.
Doctor :   Its not a sexual perversion.
User :   how do I tell my therapist?
User :   it makes me uncomfortable just talking about it
Doctor :   Since this is not something which is voluntary, these thoughts are involuntary, you do not have to feel ashamed.
Doctor :   You can go ahead and explain to them about your thoughts.
Doctor :   Its only from these therapies, you can find way to get these thoughts out.
User :   ok
User :   thank you. I guess time's up
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me. Bye for now. Please refer your friends to our service.
