My 3 month old baby for the last few days has been 'power' spewing which smelt a little off, and today has been passing wind that has the most atrocious pungent sour smell. he is solely breastfed and i am concerned that he is sick or it is my breastmilk.

Doctor :   Is he passing stools normally?
User :   he weighs 5.8kg
Doctor :   Is he feeding well?
User :   yes he is passing stools, about 1 every 2-3 days which i was told is normal for a breastfed baby

Doctor :   Do you feel that his abdomen is distended?

User :   No more than usual, he has always had very bad lower wind but never with this smell

Doctor :   Flatus (wind) smells foul due to action of bacteria and organisms on the contents of the intestine.

Doctor :   In the absence of loosestools, vomiting, abdomen distenstions, irritability and refusal to feed
Doctor :   foul smelling flatus is an insignificant symptoms
Doctor :   and can be perfectly normal.
Doctor :   Hence i do not suggest you to worry about this.

Doctor :   Watch out for loosestools and other symptoms I mentioned above.
Doctor :   If such symptoms develop, physical examination by a pediatrician is necessary.

User :   he was only born 2.5kg
