User :   I have developed a rather intense sweating problem, it has been with me since April of last year. I sweat terribly in my sleep during the night soaking my bed and sheets completely through, and it happened every night this week. This has been happening off and on for a while. And since last April I sweat very very badly from my right armpit, sweat stains the size of my whole hand, even in cool rooms or while I'm relaxed with friends.. What could be causing this?
Doctor :   Hi
User :   I am male, 31 years old, 125lbs 5'10
Doctor :   Have you seen a doctor in the past for these complaints?
Doctor :   Are you there?
User :   yes
User :   they thought it was my thyroid but tests came back normal for my thyroid
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Do you have palpitations, tremors of the hand?
User :   my hands shaky sometimes just a little, i have had it my whole life, never thought anything of it
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Do you have any other medical illness?
Doctor :   Are you on any regular medications?
Doctor :   Do you smoke or use illicit drugs?
User :   i have not been diagnosed with anything, not on any meds or drugs.
User :   I was having pins and needles feelings in my arms in the begining of the summer and went to the doctor for that because one time it was really intense, they said it was probably just stress and sent me home
User :   just my right arm
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me brief you.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Sweating is controlled by a sympathetic neurological activity.
Doctor :   Which inturn is controlled by factors such as medications, hormones, stress and anxiety.
Doctor :   These are the common factors that are responsible for excessive sweating.
Doctor :   Since you do not have thyroid issues or not on medications, you do not have any medical cause for excessive sweating.
Doctor :   Its probably due to stress and anxiety,.
Doctor :   However there are a few people in whom an exact cause for such symptoms have not been known.
Doctor :   The treatment here is avoiding stress and anxiety.
Doctor :   And the use of antiperspirants and talcum powders.
Doctor :   have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   yes, is there a way to repair my system back to normal?
User :   certain foods maybe?
User :   vitamins?
Doctor :   There are no restrictions on the food and diet.
User :   would you suggest any kind of medical follow up like a chest xray or are you pretty sure its stress.
Doctor :   Since I cannot perform a physical examination and you do not have any other symptoms, I do not suggest you the use of chest xrays.
Doctor :   Its more probably related to stress and anxiety.
Doctor :   You can use the help of antiperspirants and also use stress modifying measures.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   yes
Doctor :   Do you have any other medical illness?
User :   i hope not, but i don't know
Doctor :   I mean do you have any other query?
