User :   my 2 yr old daughter daughter had fever of 103.6 an hour ago. A few minutes ago she woke up crying and then suddenly started laughing. She continued laughing and couldn't stop for a whole minute. Then she switched to crying. now she is doing neither and his resting well. we have been alternating between tylenol and ibuprofin every 3 hours since 6 PM.
any advice?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Dr XXX here
Doctor :   Let me read what you have typed.
Doctor :   Since how long is she having fever? Does she have any other symptoms like cold, cough or sore throat?
User :   no other symptoms. fever started at 5 pm c.t. fever is currently 102.4
Doctor :   How many doses of medication have you given her till now?
User :   3 doses 6 pm, 9pm & 12:30 am c.t.
Doctor :   Has it been around 102 since then or has reduced?
User :   the fever went down a degree from 103.6 after giving her tylenole two hours ago.
Doctor :   1)Record her temperature every hour.
Doctor :   2) Give her cold water sponges if fever is not coming down.3)Give adequate fluid to prevent dehydration.
Doctor :   4)Continue with the medication and let her have proper rest.
Doctor :   If the fever does not come down and she has some other symptoms you need to get her examined and investigated.
User :   The brief hysterical laughing is nothing to be concerned about?
Doctor :   Sometimes during fever children can behave like this but if the symptoms persist then you need to get examined.
Doctor :   Also do not let the fever be too high.
User :   So as long as we keep her fever under 103 we are probably ok as long as other symptoms do not persist?
Doctor :   Yes and any antibiotic takes at least 48 to 72 hours to be effective
User :   thanks for your help
Doctor :   Is there anything else you would like to know?
User :   not now, good bye
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me, bye for now
Doctor :   Take care of your child
Doctor :   Wishing good health to her
