User :   i had a mirena coil fitted just over 3 weeks ago and a few hours ago i realised my coil was totally out of my womb and just sitting in the top of my vagina. I hve been having my period, its been long and i seemed to be getting clots coming out. Its horrible. I had a lot of pain after it was fitted which lasted until about 3 days ago. Im using the coil for my heavy and painful periods, not as a contraceptive so im not worried about pregnancy but i would like to know what to do now? And how soon will i be able to get another fitted? Thanks
User :   hello

Doctor :   yes you should still
Doctor :   also its better so that we can see if the coil has not caused any damage
Doctor :   not that it must have but there is no harm
User :   ok, i will. Can i ask also, was it normal for me to have that much pain for so long after i had it fitted? I was taking 3 types of painkillers to keep the pain down
Doctor :   many patients do feel pain upto a week
Doctor :   and in yoru case since it came out i can assume it was not fitted properly
Doctor :   that also is the reason for the pain
Doctor :   your**

Doctor :   yes you should
User :   before i log off can i ask about a related problem?

User :   for some time i have had what i can only describe as a pinch to my left ovarie
Doctor :   ok
User :   it comes and goes, some times as frequently as a few times a day, some times not for weeks, its a sharp pain that lasts a few minutes then goes
Doctor :   i see and is there any relation to this to your periods ?
User :   no, its not like a period pain, it can come and go at any time during my cycle
Doctor :   ok now the only way we can find out in this case would be via ultrasound
Doctor :   as it can be cyst
Doctor :   but we do need to be sure
User :   are cysts dangerous? Should i also ask my gp about this?
Doctor :   no they are not and can be treated with medications
