User : hi,i'm a 27 year old female.
for 3 months i have been suffering from heartburn, chest pains, gas, a feeling of having like a lump in the throat that comes and goes.
a lot of stomachaches dizziness and weakness.
i have been treated for the h.pylori 2 months ago. after that i did have a relief but still i always have stomachaches sore throat a sensation of swollen throat and i can even feel the acid in my nose and ears... i'm taking ompradex pills for a week now but it doesn't seem to help... what should i do?
Doctor : HI
User : hi
Doctor : let me read ur query
Doctor : it seems that you have acid reflux
Doctor : this is a very common condition
User : how can i treat it
User : it seems like no matter what i do it doesnt go away
Doctor : since omeprazole is not helping , you may need better meds
Doctor : to start with take some antacids if u are not taking them
User : i have been taking them for 3 monts now
User : tums and mylanta
Doctor : ok , so they have not been effective ?
User : no not really
Doctor : what about any investigations done ?
Doctor : like barium studies , esophgeal manometry?
User : no, im traveling so its complicated for me to have those tests done
Doctor : ok
Doctor : there are some ways in which u can try and reduce the symptoms
User : ?
Doctor : try to eat smaller proportions of the meals
Doctor : instead of taking 3 big meals, break it into 5-6 smallers meals
User : i am doing that
Doctor : try to keep mobile and upright for 30-45 min after meals , so that stomach contents move into the intestine
User : ok
Doctor : if possible physical excercise, (abdominal crunches) will help the stomach muscles to become strong and solve your issues
Doctor : since u r 27 yrs, it is easier to control the symptoms by such methods
User : does it sound like i should be worried? because it doesnt seem to go away. 2 months ago it was alot worse
Doctor : if not surgery and dependence on meds may be needed for uncontrollable symptoms
Doctor : it will defintiely go away
Doctor : just have to have some patience
User : does dizziness have anything to do with that?
Doctor : no
Doctor : dizziness is not a part of GERD
User : i feel dizzy a lot when i get the stomachaces
Doctor : any nausea, vomiting , vertigo like symptoms ?
User : just nausea
Doctor : then, try some OTC dramamine
Doctor : this will reduce the nausea
User : what is that?
Doctor : as well as the dizziness like symptoms
User : ok
Doctor : dramamine is the drug name
User : does it usually take time for the gerd symptoms to go away?
Doctor : yes
Doctor : it does
Doctor : GERD is a resistant issue, which goes away when u follow lifestyle and dietary changes
Doctor : avoinding spicy food, and foods that cause symtoms will help
