User :   My two year old daughter has been developing a ring of spots in her underarm area. Originally I thought these were bites but lately another spot has appeared midway down her inside upper arm which has a large (and growing) red area around it. It also appears that there is a similar inflamed area on her thorax at the point where the spot on her arm touches her body. Can anyone suggest a diagnosis please?
Doctor :   hello
Doctor :   give me min, let me read your query
User :   hello, can you see my question?
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   since when you noticed the first spots ?
Doctor :   how long it has been ?
User :   The ring of spots first appeared about 10 days ago and for the most part have subsided since. I should add that the inflamed red area around the spot does not appear to be infected
Doctor :   does she has any fever ?
Doctor :   any change in her diet ? any diarrhea ?
User :   She had a bout of fever with vomiting and diarrhoea at the end of last week lasting 2 days but not since
Doctor :   did you gave her any medications>?
User :   ibuprofen and paracetamol to control the fever but nothing else
User :   With this latest and biggest spot, my wife has applied antihistamine because my daughter said it was itchy
Doctor :   ok now what you have told me it seems that your daughter is having an infection by staph or strep bacteria . for that she should be taken to a pediatrician where lab tests will be done and the exact organism will be isolated.
Doctor :   the treatment for this is antibiotics , and is completely cured with them
Doctor :   these organisms are very common in children
Doctor :   causing this condition
User :   OK. We did take her to the doctor at the beginning of the week when a few spots looked like they might have been chicken pox. I now don't believe they were but the doctor could not be sure. If you think we should we take her back I will.
Doctor :   yes chicken pox rashes would be seen more on the trunk
Doctor :   you should take her back and just get the tests done
Doctor :   dont worry with a proper antibiotics course she will be fine
User :   OK I'll try and convince her GP to do that. Thanks
Doctor :   your welcome
Doctor :   is there anything else i can help you with ?
