omeprazole didnt help with the bitter taste. today is 4th day on kapidex and yet no improvement is seen .
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   May I know your age and gender?
Doctor :   Since when are yo having these symtoms?
User :   31 yo female 2 month
User :   endoscopy shows mild chronic gastritis and acid reflux
Doctor :   Are the symptoms seen every day?
User :   yes
Doctor :   Ok.
Doctor :   Reflux oesophagitis is diagnosed by endoscopy.
User :   well they diagnosed it as chronic gastirits and acid reflux
User :   but as i said omeprazole 20 mg wasnt working, ranitidine wasnt working
Doctor :   SInce that has been done and it shows reflux, then it is probably that the cause is the same.
Doctor :   On a few occasions these medications may not be ineffective.
Doctor :   You would need side by side dietary modifications, physical exercises
User :   ok heres my diet last 2 months: User :   pear, oatmenal skim milk, banana
User :   psyllium husk 2 tsp- for constipation
User :   khichdi, boiled mung daal, beans 1/2 cup
User :   apple, raisins for snacks, skim milk
User :   dinner prune juice, khickdi, boiled vegetables with potatoes greens
User :   now what do you think is wrong here?
Doctor :   The type of food that is used is important, but equally important is the regularity of the meals.
Doctor :   You have to very regular with your eating habits.
User :   i do eat regularly.
User :   i have fixed times for meals
Doctor :   Eat is small and frequent quantities.
User :   yes infact i lost 6 pounds
Doctor :   That is fine then.
Doctor :   Follow up with some physical exercise.
User :   thats y i am scared n feel what if i have bile reflux
User :   what tests can be done for bile reflux
Doctor :   The most confirmatory test is endoscopy.
Doctor :   If these modifications and medications fail to provide you with good result, then I would suggest you to consult a gastrosurgeon.
Doctor :   The last modality of treatment would be a surgical correction.
Doctor :   Have you followed?
User :   yes
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   he put me on kapidex 60 mg
Doctor :   Ok
User :   how long do i khave to be on medication before i see improvement
User :   i know you dont see overnight improvement, but what time frame ?
Doctor :   Usually the decision for surgical correction would be considered after evaluation.
Doctor :   However on an average, the
Doctor :   if they do not show any improvement at all then
Doctor :   surgical options can be considered.
User :   what time frame? you didnt mention time frame
Doctor :   * I am sorry, on average 2 to 4 months
User :   ok thank you.
User :   my final question is
User :   can you actually see bile reflux in endoscopy
Doctor :   Proceed.
Doctor :   The diagnosis is usually made by the changes that appear on the mucosal layer of the oesophagus.
Doctor :   Changes that are caused due to the reflux of the bile and acids.
Doctor :   On most occasions these changes are considered for the diagnosis through endoscopy, however on
Doctor :   few occasion, reflux of secretions can be demonstrated.
Doctor :   Have you followed?
User :   yes
User :   thanks. btw is psyllium husk safe to eat.
User :   sometimes i feel maybe psyllium husk may cause it
Doctor :   Usually they do not cause these symptoms, however, it is not an absolute impossibilty.
User :   ok thanks
Doctor :   I would also recommend the use of prokinetic drugs along the proton pump inhibitors that you are presently on.
Doctor :   They can be additive in treating the reflux symptoms.
Doctor :   However since these are prescription medication, you may discuss this with your treating doctor and if useful,
Doctor :   can consider those medications too, before surgical treatment is tried on.
Doctor :   I have to close the window as you are not responding. Please chat with our doctors 24/7 for medical queries.
