Doctor :   Hi
User :   hello
Doctor :   How can i help you ?
User :   hi wondered if you can help me on sunday ( yesterday ) i went to the toilet and noticed that my stools had blood in it about 1 hour later i went again to check and a small blob of a jelly like substance come out with a bit of blood in it , being worried as you do i went to the hospital to get checked up as doctors were closed , but when i saw the nurse there he done an examination on my stomach and checked my breathing and done a anal examination and told me that it was probably colitis ( inflamed bowl ) and it should clear but to keep an eye on it . Today i went to toilet again and the stools seem to be fine although their was a little strand of blood but very small the rest was fine , i have no pains no sickness no irregular bowl movement , but just wanted a second opinion
Doctor :   do you have pain while passing stools /
User :   no none at all
Doctor :   colicky type of pain in the stomach ?
User :   no
Doctor :   loose stools ?
User :   yes there very soft stools , no type of constipation what so ever , allthough at first two small bits come out about marble size followed by a normal stool
Doctor :   from your description of symptoms it is very unlikely it is colitis
User :   ok
Doctor :   coiltis will present with pain abdomen, loose stools
Doctor :   feeling of passing stools but stools doesn't come
Doctor :   your symptoms do go in favor of the local trauma caused to the anal canal while passing hard stools
Doctor :   you said that there was two hard stools marble kinds following which it was soft
User :   oh ok to be honest up until when i saw the blood i didn't show any symptoms of any pain passing seems to be normal to me
Doctor :   ok
User :   the two marble size stool seemed fairly hard
User :   but the stool that followed the two marble size ones was soft
Doctor :   yes those kinds of hard stools do cause the tear in the mucosa and cause streak of blood on the stools
Doctor :   you need to observe the following
Doctor :   Sitz bath
Doctor :   it means
Doctor :   in a tub containing like warm water add 15 ml of Betadine solution
User :   ok
Doctor :   and sit in that tub for 15 minutes
User :   you see im worried that seing blood could be cancer as when i looked on the internet to begin with most things point to that
User :   maybe im just looking at the worst and being paranoid
Doctor :   may i know your age ?
User :   my age is 29
User :   betadine , can i get that over the counter
Doctor :   yes you can get it over the counter
Doctor :   also do you have any family history of anal cancer?
User :   no only heart attacks and high blood pressure
User :   and asthama
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   you might have read the anal cancer do occur in men at the age of above 50 and there is a family predisposition
User :   oh ok is anal cancer rare in people of my age who have no family history of it
User :   i have read somewhere that it affects most people of 50+
Doctor :   you know that it is a disease of elderly and at 29 yrs you should not think of cancers and get paranoid
Doctor :   it is bad food habits
Doctor :   which has led to hard stools
Doctor :   and caused tear in mucosa
Doctor :   of anal canal
User :   i know i should not worry , but the thing is im being realistic as cancer can affect people of many ages , although their are many cancers that affect different people at different ages
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   you can get an smear examination of the ana
Doctor :   l cana
Doctor :   l
User :   so being that i have no pain , doesn't indicate that there is anything serious and this betadine should do the job
Doctor :   you can get an smear examination of anal canal
User :   ok how does that work
Doctor :   that is to see whether you have anal cance ror not
User :   do they take a swab or is it a camera , going back to previous sentences i do intend to lack in drinking water and eating fruit also very rarely exercise work long hours so do get very tired and you think it could be bad food habits
User :   i must agree on that one
Doctor :   it is the proctoscopy they do first and if necessary than they do colonoscopy which is a camera types
User :   ok
Doctor :   a smear from the anal canal or a biopsy specimen from the lesion is taken and histopathology examination is done
Doctor :   that will say whether it is a cancer growth or not
User :   oh ok
User :   do you think it is very likely in my case
Doctor :   for this you need to see a general surgeon or surgical gastroentrologist
Doctor :   as i said your symptoms do not go in favor much serious diseases
User :   or shall i continue my normal daily routines but eat better
Doctor :   to alleviate your fear you can get the proctoscopy and smear testing done
User :   sorry im very paranoid when it comes to things like blood coming out
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   not to worry
User :   you have been very helpfull thankyou so much
Doctor :   continue your routine
Doctor :   increase in the fibre content of your diet
Doctor :   say green leafy vegetables
Doctor :   fruits
Doctor :   do moderate exercise every day
User :   thankyou i feel better i feel less paranoid , and i will eat more fibre content , i consumed 1.5ltr of water today had two apples and some greens
User :   is this good to keep up
Doctor :   yes it is good
User :   brilliant thankyou , obviously i wont eat the same thing everyday , would be a bit boring
Doctor :   thank you for consulting health care magic
