User :   I'm a juvenile diabetic and am 32. Since around 20 hours, my left hand third finger has been swellon and there's a tightness to it. I haven't had any injury to that finger. My sugar levels honestly haven't been much under control with my sedentary work schedule and I'm overweight. Thank you for your diagnosis
User :   my present sugar level is 210
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Doctor :   Is your sugar levels persistantly hig
Doctor :   * high
Doctor :   Are you on any hypoglycemic meds
User :   it tends to swing during the day between as low as 70 to 200+
Doctor :   I guess the most probable cause for your complanit is Improper work ergonomics

User :   nope - I'm just on my regular insulin that I've been using since childhood
Doctor :   And i also feel its not related to Diabetes
Doctor :   Are you working in a Software firm
Doctor :   More on sysytems ?
User :   I'm a teacher - my work schedule is mostly teaching to pre-univ. students. Work doesn't involve much interaction with computers at all
Doctor :   Ok

Doctor :   Then did you recently liftany heavy weights
Doctor :   * lift any
User :   no. I haven't done anything like that
Doctor :   The other causes for joint inflamation are Arthritis
Doctor :   When was your last annuals done

Doctor :   Do you have any other joint pains?
User :   I'm 32 - Arthritis? and no - no joint pains elsewhere
Doctor :   Ok
User :   I'm sorry something I haven't clarified - I'm female
Doctor :   Do you kind have tingling sensation
User :   just to clear that up :)
User :   skin around is tight and its painful when I touch it.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Did you get relived with heat
User :   I haven't tried anything - neither heat nor ice
Doctor :   If it involving only a single finger then the most probable cause could be Tenosynovitis
User :   should I?
Doctor :   Yes Hot fomentation should give you good releif

Doctor :   As it dialates the blood vessels and decreases the inflamtion
User :   could you explain? like keep my hand in warm water?
Doctor :   Yes for sure
Doctor :   Its the condition in which there is inflamation of tendons
Doctor :   Inflammation of tendons on the side of the wrist at the base of the thumb. These tendons include the extensor pollicis brevis and the abductor pollicis longus tendons.
Doctor :   And also other palmar muscles invloved
User :   but my swollen finger is the third finger - and not the thumb
Doctor :   Stretching, heat, and anti-inflammation treatments can be helpful. Medications that have been used include naproxen, ibuprofen, diclofenac.

User :   would this inflammation be due to any infection. Anything I should take?
Doctor :   It could involve any of the palmar muscles and tendons
Doctor :   No
User :   hmm.. I was just worried it could be diabetes related.
Doctor :   You require completer rest and Tips i suggested

Doctor :   That will do
User :   thanks for clearing that up. So do I go for something like ibuprofen for reducing the swelling?
Doctor :   Yes you will require them along with heat fomentation
Doctor :   And one more question
User :   okay. By the way - are you based out of Bangalore? I wanted to see a diabetic specialist to consult on a steady pain I've been having in my foot with growing frequency.
Doctor :   Do you wear any ring on the finger which is compressing
Doctor :   I meant tight
User :   no.. no rings
Doctor :   That pain is due to neuritis
Doctor :   Its common in diabetics
User :   is it due to my unsteady sugar levels and weight?
Doctor :   'Its requires just B complex supplements
Doctor :   Will sort the issue
Doctor :   You can rather visit MS diabetic centre in 80 feet road XXXXXXXX nagar
Doctor :   Yes, and Diabetes will cause some nerve damage on long standing cases

User :   anything closer to North Bangalore - I'm from Mathikere near Yesvantpur
Doctor :   Then have to visit Fortis hospitals
