User :   I have been having sex without a condom since march with the same guy but I am on the birth control seasonique. I had my first pack and had a normal period. I am supposed to start my period this week. I had a little red blood yesterday, but nothing today. Last night it was VERY light and a brownish color. I am also having a little itchy on my vulva area... is this something I should be concerned with? Is this bleeding or spotting normal?
Doctor :   HI
Doctor :   I am Dr.xxxx here
User :   hi
Doctor :   Let me read your query
User :   ok
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   If it is in very less quantity
Doctor :   then it shall be considered as spotting
User :   with my last 3 month pack I started on thursday so thats why I asked about spotting
Doctor :   Ok
User :   i used a tampon yesterday, and wasn't that used.. just with the brownish color
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   When is your due date?
User :   for my period?
Doctor :   Yes
User :   i am on the yellow pills of the pack, so i would assume anytime in that week, last time i started on thursday
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   With contraceptive pills, there is not much of a pregnancy risk
Doctor :   so need not worry in that line
User :   thank you for that! what about the itching? is this a sign of an std?
Doctor :   Do you have any other symptoms like discharge, fever, pain in the vagina?
User :   no, just itching. I was having normal discharge, but nothing now just that little bit of spotting
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   With just itching
Doctor :   it can be considered as a circulatory disturbanc
Doctor :   rather than any infection
Doctor :   the other possibilities are a fungal/bacterial infection
User :   ok so what would you recommend?
Doctor :   For now, you should ignore these symptoms
Doctor :   only if it keeps continuing after a week
Doctor :   then there shall be a need for vaginal examination
User :   one other question
Doctor :   Sure
User :   if i have been sleeping with the same guy since march, should I be concerned with stds?
Doctor :   If he has an infection, then it is likely
User :   would i have had symptoms already?
Doctor :   Symptoms are the same as questions I asked
User :   i havent had any symptoms before.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   As far as your symptoms are considered now
Doctor :   there should not be any problem
User :   ok, i was just wondering, since I havent had symptoms so far, and I have been sleeping with him since march, without a condom, if there was any chance that I could still contract an std?
Doctor :   There is obviously a chance
Doctor :   as there is no protection
Doctor :   It is advisable to use it
Doctor :   anyday
User :   ok, I only asked because if he had an std, wouldn't i have had symptoms already?
User :   ?
Doctor :   Yes
Doctor :   you would have got the symptoms
User :   ok thank you so much
Doctor :   certain infections
Doctor :   does have higher incubation
Doctor :   as well
Doctor :   especially ones like HIV
