User :   I have a 16 year old son who went to the dentist last week. The dentist took a panoramic x-ray of his mouth. The x-ray revealed a large dark mass on his lower right jaw encompasing the roots of the lower right teeth and the right jaw bone. I need to get this checked out right away. My question is this......should I take him to an ENT Doctor... who is in my provider network... and let them do a biopsy on this mass, or should I go straight to an oncologist and let them do the biopsy. I don't want to have to run from one doctor to another, creating frustration and concern for my son and I. I want to go to the correct doctor straight away. Any recommendations you could share. Very worried about my son and would appreciate your response.
Doctor :   Hi dr XXX here
Doctor :   Let me read your query
User :   hello
Doctor :   Ok was the Xray reported by an radiologist
User :   it was done at the dentist office
User :   and handed to me
Doctor :   Was the Xray reported or explained by the dentist
Doctor :   It might be just an Infected root canal too
User :   yes, she said she was concerned about the mass and recommended i check into it right away
Doctor :   My suggestion would be get the X ray reported from a Radiologist
User :   they were looking at his wisdom teeth and noticed the mass
Doctor :   That would give us clear picture whether to choose ent or Oncologist
User :   don't you have to get that done through a doctors office
Doctor :   Yes in the radiologist's office
User :   so i could go straight to a radiologist's office to get this looked at
Doctor :   Or if Scans are accesible too You Get an CT scan which will be confirmatory
Doctor :   And also get the opnion from the radiologist about further proccedings
User :   ok...thank you
