User :   I just went to get a soft tissue massage this week and was told that she has never seen such dark line down my spine. I knew I had two shadowing lines down the spine, but didn't realize it was that bad. I would like to find out what causes this and also what I might be able to do to make it less darker.
Doctor :   Hello
Doctor :   I am Dr XXXXhere
Doctor :   Give me min please
Doctor :   Let me read your query
Doctor :   It seems you have moved out of the chat window. Please log in back if you have medical queries
Doctor :   May i know your age please
User :   46
Doctor :   So you have these lines you are talking about from how long ?
User :   At least four years but I am not sure, I know I did not have them before my daughters birth 8 years ago.
Doctor :   Ok and did you showed them to any dermatologist ?
User :   NO I have not since it really never bothered me.
Doctor :   and have they changed in color or have they spread anywhere else ?
User :   No, always the same. I am very careful with sun exposure in the summer time so I cannot figure out what causes these line.
Doctor :   Well then in that case its harmless. as our big red flags are if we see them changing in color or increasing in size of getting itchy
Doctor :   once these things are not present it can be just a harmless skin discoloration
Doctor :   but again you can always go to any walk in clinic and show it to a dermatologist
Doctor :   But its sounds harmless
User :   OK, well can you tell me possible cause of these lines ? Anything internal ?
Doctor :   No these can be just hyper pigmentation of the skin cells . it does not means it will have a internal problem . like i said we are only concerned IF ONLY we see changes
Doctor :   like change in color or the lines increasing , and any change in sensation over the area
User :   I don't see how the lines increase, since they are more like two shadows (about 1cm) having the spine right in the middle. They really look like shadows, I should not say lines.
Doctor :   I understand
Doctor :   But you can just go for an examination
Doctor :   I will recommend that
User :   Ok, as long as there is no possible internal cause, I am not too worried.
Doctor :   Yes i can assure you that
User :   Thank you very much for your advice and I think I will ask my GP on my next appointment.
Doctor :   Your most welcome
Doctor :   i am glad i was able to help you
Doctor :   Take care
Doctor :   Your feedback is appreciated
Doctor :   Is there anything else i can help you with ?
User :   One more question, as I said at the beginning of my query, I went to get soft tissue massage for my neck since it has been bothering me for a month now. I am a dancer still performing now and then and am active in rehearsals. For almost month now it feels really stiff and my chiro doctor refer me to get a massage. It felt ok but the stiffness just does not go away. I use foam roller, icing and of course exercise. Any advice ?
Doctor :   Well as a doctor i will also suggest you some rest too
Doctor :   which is equally important
Doctor :   The massage is good as it will increase the circulation and ease the muscles
User :   Thank you for your answers.
Doctor :   Your most wecome
