User :   Hi, I've read that taking xanax and drinking alcohol can cause death. I took 1.25 mg's about 30 minutes ago, and now want to drink one glass of wine. Is there a possibility of death? Thanks.
Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   do not combine medications with alcohol
Doctor :   was Xanax prescribed to you?
Doctor :   if yes, for what reason?
Doctor :   what is the dose prescribed to yo?
User :   yes, 1.25 mgs
User :   just when needed
User :   I know you should never mix meds with alcohol, but I still do at times
User :   so, if its just 1.25mg, and one glass of wine, in theory will I be fine
Doctor :   have you taken the combination before?
User :   not in such a close time period
Doctor :   if it is grape wine, it will not cause very adverse effects, but still can result in complications
User :   like i've taken the meds and then a few hours later drank
Doctor :   avoid alcohol use with medications
User :   is the dangerous use when you take a big dose, like 3 or 4 mgs and then binge drink?
Doctor :   report back to your treating doctor, and request change of medication if you are not able to give up alcohol
User :   i have friends who do that, I know it's not good but they never die, just get very messed up and black out
Doctor :   it can result in stroke and sudden death.
User :   yeah, thats not a smart thing to do, I don't do that
User :   but, good to hear one glass with a low dose wont kill me
