User :   I was diagnosed with Costochondritis today and just recently started having odd sensations in my chest, on the left side, not pain, almost like someone is pressing on it...could this be heart related or related to the Costochondtritis? I also have a history of Pulmonary Embolism. Thank you.
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Dr XXXXXXXX here
Doctor :   let me read what You have typed
User :   Hello Dr.
Doctor :   May I know Your age and sex?
User :   38 year old female
Doctor :   Ok Does this pain increase when You take a deep breath?
User :   No it doesn't
Doctor :   What about touching the area?
User :   somewhat tender, but not painful
Doctor :   Does excercise or activity increase the pain?
User :   No, its not really pain per se, almost like light pressure
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Since when have You been facing this pain?
User :   Just started 15 minutes ago
User :   More like a "fluttering" on the left side of my chest if that makes any sense
Doctor :   Ok can You tell me when You had Your attack Of pulmonary embolism?
User :   It was July of 2009 and it was considered idiopathic. I am currently on coumadin for life since no cause was determined.
Doctor :   Ok'
Doctor :   Are You feeling breathless or dis your heart beating fast?
User :   No, neither one
User :   Had my INR checked today - it was too high - could that be related?
Doctor :   Do you have fever or blue discolouration of skin?
User :   No, no fever or blue skin discoloration
Doctor :   Have You been examined by a doctor today who has done a chest examination?
User :   Yes, he determined it to be costochondtritis, but this chest "sensation" is new since I have seen him
User :   No EKG though
Doctor :   Ok I would suggest that You meet a doctor for a physical examination today and rule out if there is any lung or heart condition
Doctor :   Is the ekg normal?
User :   He didn't do an EKG since my last one a month ago was normal
Doctor :   Ok I would recomend that You see Your doctor today for a physical examination
User :   OK thank you. Is it possible that it is related to the costochondtritis?
Doctor :   can You tell me the location of the pain?Does is radiate?
User :   left side of chest and it isn't really "pain" - more like someone is pressing on my chest...does not radiate
Doctor :   Ok Is it in the chest wall or inside the cheat?does it feel tender to touch?
User :   slightly tender to the touch....can't tell if its the chest wall or inside the chest
Doctor :   Ok since I havent examined You and since You have a previous attack of embolism i think it would be safe if You went to a doctor for a physical examination
Doctor :   It would be good to rule out any lung or hearth pathology
User :   ok thank you. I had my INR checked today and it was 4.9, could that be related?
Doctor :   A chest xray may help
Doctor :   try not to exert to much
Doctor :   You can use a hot water bottle to provide any local relief to pain on the surface of your chest wall
