Doctor :   plz proceed with your querry
Doctor :   yes
User :   How much effectively we can control secondary bone cancer ?
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   it depends on case to case basis
Doctor :   but generally
Doctor :   if some patient is taking a monthly injection
Doctor :   bone metastases can be controlled for several years
Doctor :   but
Doctor :   the fact is
Doctor :   if the patient
Doctor :   doesn't recurrs the breast cancer
Doctor :   or if there is metastases to any other organs in the body
User :   what my consultant doctor said is she has secondary bone but it is in stage where we can cotrol what it means ?
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   thats what i want to tell you
Doctor :   bone metastases can be controlled
User :   thanks for your info
Doctor :   Please fill the feedback form say done when done.
User :   have you seen any patient with secondary bone cancer living long life ?
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   I have seen several breast cancer patients
User :   can you explain your experience of those patient ?
Doctor :   with secondaries to bone
Doctor :   in maximum cases
Doctor :   bone secondaries was never a problem
Doctor :   but the main problem was that
Doctor :   after completing 6 cycles of chemotherapy
Doctor :   and breast surgery
Doctor :   after few years
Doctor :   some of the patients relapse with breast cancer
Doctor :   then the disease progresses
User :   we are going to do MRI after every 2 dose of chemo
Doctor :   yes that has to be done
User :   and doctors said we can compaire those reports and conclude how much it is under control
Doctor :   but it is done to check the response
Doctor :   i am trying to tell you that
User :   normally if response is good what it means ?
Doctor :   while a patient is undergoing chemo
Doctor :   after every cycle MRI or CT is done
Doctor :   sorry
Doctor :   every 2 cycles
Doctor :   to evaluate the response
User :   I understand you
Doctor :   they are comparing the tumour tissue mass in every other MRI
User :   actually Is it something that bone mataseses has some stage >
User :   since doctor said bone secondary in primary stage we can control it with chemo. Is this really true or just they try to give +ve ans to patient
Doctor :   good response means that tumour tissue are regressing
Doctor :   are you taking treatment under some oncologist
User :   yes
Doctor :   i think that for bone metastases there are seperate medicines available
Doctor :   do you have details of the medicines and chemotherapy that your mother is taking
User :   not right now
Doctor :   try to get them
Doctor :   after knowing the details i can suggest you better
User :   ok
User :   give me a sometime
User :   i will ask my dad
Doctor :   ok
User :   final question to you for this session
Doctor :   ok
User :   Is there something like superficial secondary bone cancer?
User :   doctor said cancer cells are on the surface of bone that is why we can have more chances of treating that
Doctor :   there is superficial secondary cancer
Doctor :   this term can be used for bones and some other organs also
Doctor :   but remember
Doctor :   the treatment for bone secondaries
Doctor :   will depend on the fact that how many secondaries are there and in how many bones
User :   what is a relation of successful controlling those secondary in both the cases ?
Doctor :   treatment will remain the same
Doctor :   as bone mets can be controlled
Doctor :   only thing that varies is the time when to start treatment
Doctor :   Have you filled the feedback form?
User :   i will do it
Doctor :   ok
User :   last question
Doctor :   ok
User :   in my mother's case she has bone secondary in back, thigh and hips skeleton but they are superficial stage. What can I life I can think for my mother ?
Doctor :   dont worry
Doctor :   about secondaries bone
Doctor :   there are effective medications to keep them under control
User :   doctors said 99% of chances of controlling those bone secondary is there Is this what you also advise ?
Doctor :   yes
User :   can you list some of those medicine so that I can suggest my doctor
Doctor :   only thing to worry
Doctor :   i can tell you some medications
Doctor :   on a routine Bisphosphonates group of medications along with calcium supplements are prescribed
Doctor :   but that really depends on case to case basis
User :   fine. you were typing something only ting to worry . what is it ?
Doctor :   what a oncologist feels after looking and examining a patient is more important
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   only complication that occurs is
Doctor :   once the 6 cycles of chemotherapy are complete
Doctor :   many patients will have a complete response which means that no MRI or CT measurable disease is present in the patient
Doctor :   then after several years depending on case to case basis
Doctor :   there will be relapse of the disease
User :   understood
Doctor :   thats the concern
User :   meanwhile life will be normal or she will be like after chemotherapy ?
Doctor :   yes once the chemotherapy finishes
Doctor :   she will be fine after one month
Doctor :   but if their is hair problem then it can take upto 6 months
User :   shall I a look for avg 4-5 years of my mother if chemotherapy response is +ve
User :   thanks doctor
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   once you finish the chemotherapy
Doctor :   come back to me
User :   sure
Doctor :   ok
User :   relapse of cancer depends upon what ?
Doctor :   there are no particular reasons described
User :   similar to my mother's case what are the chances of relapse ?
Doctor :   but if the patient is hormone receptor positive then after finishing the chemo the doctor usually shifts the patients to hormonal therapy
User :   i have read on net that cancer is always debatable and no confirmation is there. It is pure patient to patient
Doctor :   then the chances of relapse are less
User :   ok
User :   so you mean to have +ve hormone receptor is good sign
Doctor :   how cancer develops is debatable
Doctor :   but there are treatment modalities to keep it under control
Doctor :   yes if a patient is hormone receptor positive then there are hormones to treat the patient after chemo
User :   hormone therapy is what ? Is it similar to radiation ?
Doctor :   no
Doctor :   is just tablets
User :   OK
User :   Is it available in India ?
Doctor :   yes
User :   thanks doctor
Doctor :   there are several hormonal therapy available across india
Doctor :   is there anything I can help you with ?
Doctor :   Have you filled the feedback form?
User :   anything special we should treat my mother which help her ?
Doctor :   the ideal approach for the treatment will be
Doctor :   to finish the 6 cycles of chemotherapy if there is response
Doctor :   meanwhile you can get the receptor status tested
User :   thanks
Doctor :   so that the doctor can plan for further management
User :   i will ask that
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   Is there any thing else I can help you with?
User :   no docotor i will contact next time
User :   we can close this seession
