Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hil,
Doctor :   How can i help you leo ?
User :   I have a kid of age 1yr 4months
User :   he has problem with constipation
User :   since his birth
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   may i know his weight and height ?
User :   Doctors told it was ok to have irregular constipation
User :   but now he has constipation on alternate days or sometimes 2-3 days once with lot of trouble
User :   he is 10kg
User :   now
Doctor :   may i know what you mean by constipation ? does he have hard stools ? or reduced frequency of stools ?
User :   he has reduced frequency of stools and due to this delay of 2-3 days, its hard too
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   In that case , giving him enough fluid, fruit juices , mashed banana with milk
User :   and would be difficult for him to pass these stools due to hardness
User :   we have been giving him fruits ( banana and others)
User :   smashed vegetables
Doctor :   these foods have a natural laxative effect and help him have normal soft stools
User :   but hasn't helped him
User :   this delay increases when he has apple and egg
User :   and we have been avoiding this too
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   any tests done by doctors ?
User :   no
User :   they just say it as normal
Doctor :   does your kid ever had any issues with toilet training ?
User :   yes
User :   he doesnot sit
User :   because when its time to pass tools
User :   he keeps running around the room
Doctor :   ok
User :   and keeps to pushing himself
Doctor :   this means that he is avoiding passing stools
Doctor :   and there is nothing wrong medically with him
User :   i guess it must be paining
User :   while passing
User :   hence trying to avoid
User :   how can stools be made soft
Doctor :   muscles in kids are weak , and they sometimes have to strain harder to pass stools
User :   yes
Doctor :   the issue with him, is not that the stools are not soft
Doctor :   since he is delaying passing stools, all the stools get hard due to absorbtion of water from the stools
User :   ok
Doctor :   he will need proper training and support to get him have proper stools
User :   ok
Doctor :   he must develop a habit to sit on the toilet every day, for about 15-20 minutes even if he does not have stools
User :   ok
Doctor :   once he develops this habit, he will eventually learn to pass stools daily
Doctor :   give positive reinforcement (a hug, kiss, or words of encouragement) for recognizing the urge and sitting, whether or not the child is successful.
User :   fine doctor
Doctor :   In addition, be sure the child has foot support (eg, a stool)
Doctor :   Foot support is important because it provides a place for the child to push against as he bears down to move his bowels. The stool also helps a child to feel more stable.
User :   hmm
Doctor :   The best time is often after a meal because eating stimulates the bowels.
Doctor :   Reading to the child or keeping them company while in the bathroom can help to keep the child's interest and encourage cooperation.
User :   thank u
Doctor :   you are most welcome
User :   for your suggestions
Doctor :   in addition, dark corn syrup, prune, apple, or pear juice , barley cereal. will help him more
User :   ok
Doctor :   I hope this was helpful
Doctor :   Is there anything else i can help you with ?
User :   hope
User :   other is his cold
User :   when he has cold and cough
User :   what is the best and mild medicine for having it under control
User :   because if he has cold and cough, he will somtimes have vomiting of mucus too
User :   while having food
Doctor :   he can be given crux cough syrup
Doctor :   this will break up the mucus and reduce the cough
User :   fine
Doctor :   5 ml thrice daily will be good for him
User :   thank u
User :   thats it
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   thanks for consulting me here
Doctor :   take care and have a good night
