User :   I found a lump under my 5 month old's left breast, should I be concerned?
Doctor :   Hi
User :   hello
User :   i have an appt with my little girl's doctor in 3 weeks...should i wait or call tomorrow?
Doctor :   Since when did you notice it?
Doctor :   How big is the lump?
Doctor :   Does he cry when you touch the lump?
User :   just noticed it tonight when i put lotion on her getting her ready for bed, maybe the size of a pea, it is not red and she doesn't seem to be bothered when i touch it
User :   she did have the swollen breast for a number of weeks after she was born
Doctor :   Ok
User :   she's acting normal, eating, playing, sitting up, smiling
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me explain to you.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Breast swelling can happen in new born due to effects of hormones secreted in the breast milk.
Doctor :   It is not a concerning problem.
User :   i am not breast feeding
Doctor :   Since your child is active and has not discomfort on touching the lump, it appears to be a benign lump.
Doctor :   However since I cannot physically examine the lump,
Doctor :   I suggest that you see a doctor.
Doctor :   It is not an emergency though.
Doctor :   Watch out for increase in the size of the lump,
Doctor :   Presence of skin colour changes, and excessive crying.
User :   should i wait until her next appt in 3 weeks or call and get an appt sooner?
Doctor :   You can call up and get an appointment whenever feasible.
Doctor :   In the mean time, watch out for the symptoms
Doctor :   such as increase in the size of the lump,
User :   ok i will
Doctor :   presence of erythematous changes - red discoloration of the lump, pus pointing,
Doctor :   fever,
Doctor :   excess cry on touch.
Doctor :   These symptoms indicate a concerning problem.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   yes, i have
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   no, just wanted an idea of what this could be
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me.
