User :   I have a mole under my armpit that seems to be getting gradually larger. It is thin and long shaped...recently it has started to cause discomfort.
Doctor :   Hi
User :   hello
Doctor :   May I know your age and gender?
User :   51 and male
Doctor :   Since when are you having this mole - is it present since birth?
User :   Seems like it started developing about 5 years ago.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Is the skin over the mole appearing normal?
Doctor :   Do you have redness, itching surrounding the region of mole?
Doctor :   Have you seen a doctor?
Doctor :   Do you have any other medical illness such as diabetes?
User :   The mole itself is darker...but the skin underneath seems normal. No bump that I can detect.
Doctor :   Ok
User :   No diabetes
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me explain to you.
Doctor :   A mole described medically as nevus are of different types.
Doctor :   Congenital is one type which is present since birth.
Doctor :   Most often nevus are benign non concerning one,
Doctor :   however a congenital one has a potential to change characteristic.
Doctor :   Since I haven't physically examined you
User :   It would be simple for me to just kinda just pull it off. Would this cause any potential problem if i then took sanatizing measures.
Doctor :   I will not be able to mention if a change in its nature has occurred.,
Doctor :   Yes,
Doctor :   a mole is a deep seated one
Doctor :   You can induce injury if you are going to pull it out.
Doctor :   Because of its potential to change characteristics and since your report of a recent increase in the size of the mole,
Doctor :   I recommend you to consult a doctor
Doctor :   who can physically examine you and rule out the possibility of cancerous transformation.
Doctor :   He may suggest a biopsy of the mole if entailed.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   Yes, so there is the potential of it being a sign of a developing cancer.
Doctor :   One of the symptom of transformation is sudden increase in the size,
Doctor :   however such change can occur normally in a benign mole too.
Doctor :   Since no other secondary change such as bumps/ulceration are seen,
Doctor :   there are possibilities that this too is a normal non concerning one.
Doctor :   However, sitting from this far, without physically examining the mole or without a biopsy report,
Doctor :   I will not be able to completely rule the concerning problem.
Doctor :   Hence my recommendations.
User :   Ok, I'm ok with that. I guess the smart thing to do would be to get examined by a doctor.
Doctor :   Yes.
Doctor :   That will be beneficial.
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
Doctor :   Are you there?
User :   Thankyou you were very helpful.
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor :   Bye for now.
