User :   Hello
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   do you want to speak to a neurologist ?
User :   Is that an option at this very moment or would I have to wait
Doctor :   neurologist is not available for chat
Doctor :   they will only answer your query via e mail
Doctor :   or you can schedule an phone call with them
User :   ok well can I speak to a doctor who knows about reflexes, and maybe Upper Motor Neuron disease??
Doctor :   yes you can
Doctor :   proceed with your query
User :   did you get that
User :   my screan isnt showing anything
Doctor :   i did not get any query
User :   this service is a little unfair because its wasting what time i have on retyping questions, is there anything that can be done
Doctor :   will you please put your query
User :   my fear is that I may have an upper motor neuron disease, I've been to a neurologist and he said I have brisk reflexes all over and some ankle clonus
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   what symptoms do you have so that you had to approach neurologist
User :   I just noticed that my legs were shaking when I went down stairs and I felt shaky all the time and I went to family doc and she checked reflexes and sent me to a Neuro
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   what did the neurologist say after physically examining you ?
User :   He said he wanted to rule out MS and thyroid and diabetes so he sent me off for test, all were normal
User :   then he told me it was anxiety
Doctor :   was it both the legs or only one leg which was shaky ?
User :   both
Doctor :   only legs and not the hands ?
User :   I kind of felt shaky all over but some of that has subsided
Doctor :   may i know your age ?
User :   39
Doctor :   do you have any medical disorders
Doctor :   are you there ?
Doctor :   Are you there ?
Doctor :   Do you have any medical disorders like hypertension, asthma, diabetes and are you on any medications ?
User :   no, none
Doctor :   apart from being shaky what other symptoms do you have ?
User :   I have a weird stiffness in my back that doesnt hurt but it wont go away, its been there for weeks, I'm scared its spatisity because it gets tighter when I walk and throws my balance off.
Doctor :   spasticty is different from stiffness
User :   ok
Doctor :   spasticty is involuntary and it will not get eased
Doctor :   motor neuron disease do have a specific pattern
Doctor :   your symptoms do not fit into any of the upper motor neuron or lower motor neuron disease
User :   even with the brisk reflexes all over and the clonus, someone told me that clonus is always pathological
Doctor :   clonus sustained or unsustained type ?
User :   depends how much activity I do or if I'm having a panic attack, If I'm relaxed and just sitting around you only get a few beets out of left foot and none out of right, but if I'm anxious or been up walking around then left foot keeps beating and right some also
Doctor :   what you understand by clonus ?
User :   what do you mean?
Doctor :   what is clonus ?
User :   when the doctor sort of jerk your ankle in a upward motion and your foot and legs has repetive movent
Doctor :   yes you are right
Doctor :   it is a sign and needs to be elicited, i thought you were wrongly using the terminology
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   clonus can appear in normal individual and its variation as described by you will not be there if there is a motor neuron disease
Doctor :   As stated earlier motor neuron disease do have a specific pattern
Doctor :   which is not there in you
Doctor :   as described in the symptoms
Doctor :   the brisk reflexes and clonus will appear along with rigidity and progressive weakness in one half of the body
Doctor :   in upper motor neuron type
User :   do you mean clinical weakness or I feel weak
Doctor :   you feel weak
User :   yes
Doctor :   and clinically there will be increased tone
Doctor :   and in you it is both the limbs and generalized brisk reflexes which is neither upper type nor the lower type
