Doctor:How can I help you?
User:Hello Doctor
User:My son is 8 years old, and has cold and cough
User:and i'm travelling tomorrow on vacation
User:and my Paediatrician is also on vacation
User:so wanted to consult before i give him any medicine
Doctor:Is he running fever?
User:my doctor prescribes either dilosyn or cetirizine
Doctor:Since when is he having these symptoms?
User:last 5 days slight running nose, but yesterday and today he is getting yello/white phlegm when he blows his nose
User:thats why i'm a bit worried
Doctor:Let me brief you.
Doctor:Cough and nasal congestion is suggestive of upper respiratory inflammation.
Doctor:Since he has these symptoms since last 5 years, there is every possibility of getting secondary infection.
Doctor:Though Cetrizine tablets, nasoclear nasal drops and steam inhalation can relieve the symptoms,
Doctor:if I were to be his treating doctor, I would also recommend antiobiotic as preventive measure.
Doctor:Therefore the following are my recommendations.
Doctor:1. Cetrizine can be given one dose at night.
Doctor:2. Encourage steam inhalation thrice a day
Doctor:3. Avoid cold and refrigerated food/drinks
Doctor:4. Consult a nearby doctor who can give you a written prescription of antibiotics.
User:last time my doctor prescribed Azro
User:should i give him that
Doctor:I would not suggest you to take any antibiotic without consulting a doctor. The dose and frequency of medication varies with his current weight and the severity of infection.
Doctor:Moreover irregular medication can result in bacterial resistance; something I do not want to happen.
User:he weighs around 25 Kg now
Doctor:Have you followed?
Doctor:Do you have any queries?
User:no doctor, i'l try and take him to a nearby doctor then
User:Thank you
Doctor:Thanks for consulting me.
Doctor:Bye for now.
