User :   I had a brain aneurysm and had it clipped before it ruptured; is there increased risk of having another one if I have a baby?
Doctor :   Hi
User :   hi
Doctor :   May I know your age?
User :   38
User :   i was 31 when it happened; 13 months after giving birth to my son
Doctor :   Since when are you having the aneursym and when was the clipping done?
User :   the clipping was done in 2003
Doctor :   Brain aneurysm and pregnancy are not associated directly.
Doctor :   It is caused more often by congenital factors.
User :   i understand that, just wondering if my carrying and delivering a baby will contribute to the possiblity of another weak spot on my vessels becoming an aneurysm
User :   i am trying to access the normal risk factors of having a baby at 38 vs. any additional risk because of the aneurysm
Doctor :   However, there are a few conditions such as hypertension, smoking, alcohol consumption, menopause and other factors which can contribute to these.
Doctor :   Pregnancy can induce hypertensive changes, a condition referred to as pregnancy induced hypertension.
Doctor :   Watch out for it.
Doctor :   If you have an weak spot, hypertension with or without any of the above risk factors can aggravate the problems causing fresh aneuryms.
User :   is there a way to actually access if I do have any other weak spots?
Doctor :   May I know if a cerebral angiogram was done, when you had the previous aneurysm.
User :   was not
Doctor :   Usually the cerebral aneurysm and the defective blood vessels are detectable by radio imaging and by cerebral angiograms.
Doctor :   They can detect possible angiograms which can rupture.
Doctor :   Those high risk aneurysm are clipped.
User :   i had MRI' done
Doctor :   However, it is difficult to determine possible sources of other aneurysm by any other tests.
User :   thank you.
User :   So in your opinion do you think that it would be safer for me to not get pregnant
Doctor :   Like I said, pregnancy is not unsafe.
Doctor :   You can concieve, if you want to.
User :   what about delivery?
Doctor :   You may have to follow up with your doctors regularly,
Doctor :   Manage stress adequately and watch out for hypertension.
Doctor :   There are more chances that you will be have a safe pregnancy period and delivery.
User :   Okay thank you.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
Doctor :   Do you have any other query that I can assist you with?
User :   I have seen several specialist already and have different opinions from my actual neurologist than the others, but this has helped
