User :   hi, i was in the shower with my girlfriend and i rubbed my penis, i do not know if i had semen on my hand, but then i fingered my girlfriend a few moments later, we never actually had sex, she then went and got the plan b pill this morning, she ovulated thursday we believe, is there a possibility that she can get pregnant?
Doctor :   Hi
User :   hi
Doctor :   I cannot predict the chances of pregnancy.
Doctor :   However my opinion is that if there was the fertilization of the egg by any sperms which were present in the hand then there are chances of pregnancy.
Doctor :   Your girl friend has done the right thing by taking the I pill.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Now only thing which can be done is wait and watch.
User :   ive also heard that water and air can destroy sperm, is this also true?
Doctor :   Prolong exposure to the environmental condiition can alter sperms to some extent.
Doctor :   It can make the sperms ineffective to some extent.
Doctor :   But since millions of sperms can be present per ml of the semen and just
Doctor :   one of those is required for fertilisation.
User :   ok
Doctor :   The proportion is too much for leaving it to the air and water to destroy them completely.
Doctor :   Are you following what i can saying?
Doctor :   * i mean what I am saying?
User :   i am, im just trying to see if there is a high or low probability of her getting pregnant
Doctor :   Since she has taken the emergency contraceptive pills the chances of pregnancy is reduced to less than 10%.
User :   ok, because i know theres always that chance, but i was just trying to get a ball park figure of how realistic it was
Doctor :   The figures reported are following studies on a population that have used the pills and that which did not use them.
Doctor :   However, the exact figure on the effectiveness of the pills on a single person cannot be predicted.
Doctor :   For better effectiveness, I would suggest the use of 2 pills, 12 to 24 hours following the first pill.
Doctor :   You may suggest this to your girl friend.
User :   yes, that is what she has
Doctor :   There chances of failure is reduced further with the use two pills.
Doctor :   Have you followed?
User :   shes supposed to take the 2nd 1 at 10 tonight
Doctor :   Yes, she can do that.
Doctor :   Do you have any other query that I can assist you with?
User :   i was also wondering when is the earliest we can tell if shes gotten pregnant?
Doctor :   Pregnancy can be detected as early as 2 weeks following fertilisation.
Doctor :   However, since she has used the pills there can chances of false reports on the 2 week.
Doctor :   I would suggest you to wait for atleast 4 weeks.
Doctor :   If she misses her periods, or if she does develop signs of pregnancy, then you can get the pregnancy test.
Doctor :   Or the blood HCG levels.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   i have
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   back to what you said earlier, after taking the two pills what does the probability of pregnancy drop to?
Doctor :   It can drop to less than 2 to 5%
User :   ook
User :   ok*
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   i think thats it, thank you doctor
Doctor :   Please fill the feed back form too.
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me. Bye for now. Please refer your friends to our service.
User :   i will, thank you again
