User :   hi i went to my dr.. 3 weeks ago and had a transvaginal ultrasound, last time i had intercourse was 11 weeks ago so i would have been 8 weeks along, he said i was not pregnant, and everything looked fine. i am on the pill and have been getting my period regularly however my last period was extremely light, and ive been getting backaches, swollen breast, lower abdominal fluttering (feels like and makes the noise as if im hungry but im not) and my belly is growing i have gained weight rapidly, which is not normal for me ive always been extremely skinny with a flat belly, i was wondering if it is possible that the dr could have missed the sack or fetus in 8 weeks?? i have an appointment again tomorrow for another ultrasound just to make sure do you think i should go or do you think i should trust the first dr that i am not pregnant? thank you so much
Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   let me read
User :   sure
Doctor :   yes you need to get an other ultrasound done
Doctor :   was blood test for pregnancy done ?
User :   you think hat it is possible that they did not see the baby at 8 weeks?
User :   no only urin tests and they are all negative
User :   i dont have insurance so i went directly for an ultrasound as i thought it is the most accurate way to tell
Doctor :   it is very much not possible for the scan to miss the gestation sac that to trans vaginal at 8 weeks
Doctor :   even if it had missed the blood test will not
User :   i didnt get that are you saying i should have done a scan rather than a transvaginal ultrasound?
Doctor :   transvaginal ultrasound is more superior in detecting pregnancy that the abdominal scan
User :   ok so then is it possible that the doctor who performed it missed the sac at 8 weeks or not?
Doctor :   the chances of missing it less than 1 %
User :   . i see , but you think i should go to another transvaginal ultrasound again anyway just to make sure?
Doctor :   i think it is now 11 weeks ?
User :   yes
Doctor :   normal ultrasound is enough as it is 11 weeks now
User :   yes but the doctor said i am not pregnant and he said i was fine everything seemed normal
User :   and the urin tests are negative
User :   but if i was pregnant i would have been in week 11
User :   and when i went it would have been 8 since the last time i had intercourse
Doctor :   ok
User :   so if he didnt see anything then...and you/ said the chance of missing it is extremely slim then it must mean i am not pregnant right
Doctor :   yes
User :   ?
User :   ....i am just really confused if i should go to another ultrasound or not...i was thinking of doing it for my own peace of mind but now im not sure..and plus its so expencive
Doctor :   it is not necessary to go for an ultrasound
User :   ok thanks for your help
