User :   I have been having problems with my period. Last cycle I had a period that lasted 4 days, stopped for 3, had another for 4 days, stopped for 3days and then had some brown discharge for 2 days...this cycle I had a 3 day period and stopped for 4 days and then started again for 3 days, yesterday after my shower I felt like I had to have a bowel movement and while on the toilet I had a gush of blood and after wiping 3 times I got a little bit of blood clot and something else that I had never had before. It was about the size of a lima bean and was light pink/clear and a bit gummy feeling...I asked my brother who is a nurse and he said that I might have had a miscarriage. Is this a possibility or am I being paranoid?
Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   Dr. here. Let me read what you have typed

Doctor :   like Ultrasound abdomen, complete blood counts, hormonal analysis of FSH, LH, Prolactin, TSH
User :   could you tell me what you think the little thing was that came out?
User :   I have an appointment with my GYN next Tuesday, is this something that I should have looked at ASAP or can it wait until then?
Doctor :   the cause of such breakthrough bleeding could be 1) anemia, 2)hormonal imbalance, 3)endometriosis, 4) miscarriage
Doctor :   if the bleeding does not occur again, then you could wait
Doctor :   if the bleeding or clot happens again or pain increases, then you should not postpone your visit.
Doctor :   are you on any birth control measures? if yes when have you started taking it? and which one are you taking?
User :   ok, the only thing that freaked me out a bit was that clot of something that was not normal for me, but my period has been weird for a couple of months anyway
User :   Just condoms
Doctor :   irregularity of periods should not be ignored, it can be a possible sign of any of the above conditions mentioned, more so of endometriosis
User :   ok
Doctor :   discuss with your gyne the possibilities and start on appropriate treatment
User :   In late Dec early Jan I had an ultrasound done to see if I had cysts and I did not
User :   but that was because of headaches
User :   not because of weird periods
Doctor :   ok. that is good that no cysts were found in ultrasound, it is better to have a repeat check done now since your periods cycles have become irregular
Doctor :   and you are having different bleeding pattern
User :   if I had a miscarriage, would they still be able to tell that next week? Is it possible that I had a miscarriage even though I have been bleeding or having what seemed like a period as often as I have?
User :   ?
Doctor :   miscarriage can be a silent one
Doctor :   with minimal bleeding and pain
