User :   Hello, I just slipped on ice and hit the back of my head. I don't think I lost consciousness because I fell, and got up right away after falling. I did see a black out for maybe one second, but my vision quickly returned and I got up. I just want to know if I should go to see a doctor tomorrow because it is really icy and snowing badly.
User :   Or will I be ok?
Doctor :   May I know your age?
User :   26
Doctor :   Are you having headache?
User :   not really badly
Doctor :   Did you vomit after the fall?
User :   no
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Has your vision improved now?
User :   yes, I walked from the trash can back up stairs
Doctor :   How long back did you have this fall?
Doctor :   Do you have any other medical history such as diabetes, high blood pressure?
Doctor :   Are you there?
User :   just 20 minutes ago
User :   i do have high blood pressure
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me explain to you.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Based on your description, you don't seem to have any serious intra cranial injuries.
Doctor :   Symptoms of head injuires most often(about 70-80%) develop immediately or in an hour after the fall.
User :   so I should wait an hour and see?
Doctor :   And less significant number (less than 20%) can have delayed symptoms after an hour.
Doctor :   Delayed symptoms often occur within the next 24 hours.
Doctor :   Hence according to these figures,
User :   I am just concerned because I really can't afford the ER right now
User :   and the roads are very icy and it snowing hard
Doctor :   if you do not develop severe headaches, recurrent vomiting drowsiness in the next 30 minutes
Doctor :   I do not expect you to have any major problems.
User :   so I won't have to see a doctor?
User :   some people all over the internet say that I should always get a check up on head injuries
Doctor :   Hence watch out for symptoms such as severe headaches, drowsiness, recurrent vomiting.
Doctor :   Also check your blood pressures if possible.
User :   I don't have a blood pressure monitor at the moment
User :   I did take advil right after the fall
User :   just in case I thought I would get a headache
User :   i took that probably about 15 minutes ago
Doctor :   If you do not have these symptoms within the next 30 minutes, the chances that you can develop serious effects are very less.
User :   I can get serious effects? that is what it seems like you said. Just asking
User :   opps, didn't see all of the message
Doctor :   I hope its clear now.
Doctor :   Let me put across in the simple words.
User :   it is 1:41am at the moment. If I fall asleep, will it effect me?
User :   ok
Doctor :   Based on your description, you presently do not have symptoms of head injury.
User :   ok
Doctor :   If you continue to be symptoms free for the next 30 minutes to an hour,
User :   I can see perfectly, and I am talking fine and playing a game online
Doctor :   the chances that you will have one is very unlikely,
User :   ok
User :   so I don't have to see a doctor?
Doctor :   I would say the chances are less than 20%.
Doctor :   You need to consult a doctor, if you notice that you develop a serious headache or you develop recurrent vomiting in the next 24 hours period.
User :   ok
Doctor :   If you do not develop them in the next 24 hours, you need to see a doctor.
User :   ok
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   yes
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   Nope, Thank you.
User :   I hope I am fine
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me.
User :   Wait one sec.
Doctor :   You should be fine as the chances of you developing them are less likely.
User :   I just turned my head and my neck hurts a little, not seriously, but a little
User :   is this normal with the fall?
Doctor :   This is probably secondary to muscle strain.
User :   my head doesn't hurt just my neck, it seems like
User :   ok
Doctor :   You might have pulled a muscle.
User :   whiplash?
User :   ah, ok
Doctor :   use soft pillows.
User :   ok, I will do that
Doctor :   Hot water bags if possible for an hour can also help.
User :   should I sleep against the pain or away from it?
User :   ok
User :   That is all the questions I had then
User :   Thank you so much for the help
Doctor :   Since you have already popped one advil, I expect your symptoms to improve by the time you wake up, if not completely recovered, atleast a major part of the pain should be down.
Doctor :   Have you followed?
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   Yes
User :   nope
User :   Thank you.
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me.
User :   No problem, thank you.
Doctor :   Bye for now.
