User :   Hello so i have a question about HIV?
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   Please proceed with your query.
User :   So ok i had unprotected sex in january 09 for new years and i'm in the army soo i took an hiv test in Feb 10 and it was negative than took one again for my deployment to afghanistan where i am now in April 10 are those for sure 100%?
Doctor :   Do you know what type of test was performed?
User :   And she gave me chymidia but thats all that they found during the urinalysis which i got taken care of, umm i can find out but i think its a rapid hiv test
User :   not sure if that helps any
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me explain it to you.
User :   Ya it just says Rapid Antibody Hiv Testing
User :   k
Doctor :   Since you have done 2 test in the span of 3 months, taking into consideration there was no history of exposure following january, the chances of HIV infection is bleak.
Doctor :   Generally the window period for antibodies against HIV is for 3 to 4 months and since the second test was done at the 4th month which was negative, the chances may be infected are less than 5%.
Doctor :   So you do not have to worry about it.
User :   Ok whewww wow, i mean i've been sooo paranoid about it doc, I waited a year because i didnt find out i had chlymidia until the following year of feb, so thats when i got the hiv test than another one in April 2010
Doctor :   If you are not still convinced with these test, then you can get a repeat of the test after in the coming month ( august) and if they too are negative, then you can be assured that there is no HIV infection.
User :   But there should be some signs if I had it right? since it's been over a year now?
Doctor :   SInce the exposure was an year ago, if you have not had any further exposure, then you do not have the infection based on the reports.
Doctor :   There is no need for repeating the other test which I had mentioned to you in the chat.
Doctor :   You do not have HIV infection.
User :   Ok wow thank you soo much doc u have no idea how relieved i am
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
User :   thats it thank you soo much
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me. Bye for now. Please refer your friends to our service.
