User :   Hello- I have been having a pain in my chest for a couple of weeks. It has progressively gotten worse. It radiates from the top of my chest, slightly to the left from center- about 4 inches down from my collar bone, that is the main point, spreading all over the top almost to my shoulders. The pain feels like sore muscles. It doesn't really interfere or bother me much during the day, although the last day or so I am noticing it more during the day. Mainly at night when I am laying down or when I take a deep breath.

Doctor :   While each source of chest pain may have a classic presentation of signs and symptoms, there is significant overlap among the symptoms of each condition, and the symptoms may also be affected by age, gender and race.
Doctor :   Pain can be caused by almost every structure in the chest. Different organs can produce different types of pain but unfortunately the pain is not specific to each cause
Doctor :   The source of pain may arise from a variety of potential sources:
Doctor :   the chest wall including the ribs, the muscles, and the skin
Doctor :   the back including the spine, the nerves, and the back muscles;
Doctor :   the lung, the pleura (the lining of the lung) or the trachea;
Doctor :   the heart including the pericardium (the sac that surrounds the heart
Doctor :   the aorta;the esophagus; the diaphragm, the flat muscle that separates the chest and abdominal cavities; referred pain from abdominal organs like the stomach, gallbladder, and pancreas.
Doctor :   Hope you got it
Doctor :   So do take an appointment with your doctor
