User :   i've been waking to lots of chest and mid-back tightness as well as shortness of breath at night. never been dx'd with asthma, 32 yo. i have chronic allergies and have been having increased mucous buildup, esp at night. last two days been waking with mild edema also, not sure if that's related. meds include XXXXXXXX (disperonone) and citalopram. no significant cough however, or wheezing that i've noticed.
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   hi
Doctor :   Dr xxx here
User :   any thoughts?
Doctor :   Please give me a minute to read your post
Doctor :   What chronic allergies you have?
User :   just hayfever
User :   sneezing, runny nose, etc
Doctor :   ok, the mucous you mentioned , may i know the color of it ?
User :   i haven't coughed it up, i try to swallow it and it's very thick
User :   i also seem to have swollen lymph nodes in my neck, again, not sure if it's related
Doctor :   the lymphnodes are relatee they do swell up in the neck when some pathology in the lungs
Doctor :   relate*
User :   do you have any idea what i may have?
Doctor :   please do notice the sputum color , if its yellowish in color
Doctor :   if its yellow get a sputum test for eosinophills , and also get a blood test called Absolute Eosinophyl count
User :   so you think it's asthma related?
Doctor :   both if positive suggest a allergic etiology
Doctor :   not purely asthma a analogue of it
User :   is it possible to have asthma without chronic cough, with just dyspnea?
Doctor :   yes, did you ever notice seasonal variation in the dyspnea ?
User :   it's just started this past week or two. i have it one other time many years ago for probably a few months, around the same time of year and it's never come back til now. but i don't know what it was then.
User :   i got some type of inhaler that didn't seem to help much
Doctor :   it would be the same i consider
User :   what about the edema?
Doctor :   may i know the inhaler name ?
User :   i don't remember
Doctor :   ok, no i do not think of Oedema,
User :   it was prn rather than regular
Doctor :   oedema is a emergency situation , you may not be having that
User :   yes i know it's not a good thing. but my doc is closed til monday so unless it gets worse, i'm waiting til then
User :   it's mostly in my face (eyes, lips) and hands
Doctor :   it occurs in pathologies of heart when the blood from lungs is not cleared off well., severe cases result in sudden death
User :   i know... but i'm a stubborn med student
User :   that's why i'm asking you first
Doctor :   do not worry , i do not relate to any severe pathology
User :   the last two days, i woke up with it and it seems to gradually clear through the day
Doctor :   the oedema of the face you having may be due to the allergic process you running through
User :   yes perhaps
Doctor :   get the AEC it will confirm you the fact
User :   ok... i will make an appointment if i'm still having symptoms on monday
Doctor :   good,
Doctor :   tak care
User :   you yoo
User :   too
