User :   Panic attack or heart issue? Today at work, I was waiting on a costomer. All of a sudden I felt weak and my whole body felt kind of tickly. I felt like my heart stopped and I was fading away , it seemed to last forever. I thought I was going to pass out I felt weak. I had another cashier come and finish for me. And I started to about run out of the store as soon as I started leaving my heart started pounding so hard and fast it was shaking me. Then I got clocked out and out of the building and the racing stopped and I was just shakey and incredibly exhausted.
Is this a panic attack or something else? Has anyone had an experience like this? I've had my heart checked out and monitored but never with an episode like that! Help! I have had numerous EKG's, holter, stress echo, 21 day continuous monitor.
I'm just so scared that my heart just stopped! My chest felt void.
Doctor :   Hi
User :   Hello.
Doctor :   Let me read the query.
Doctor :   May I know your age and gender?
User :   I am a 21 year old female. Fairly decent shape dont drink do drug or smoke.
User :   Oh and all the test results came back normal... just PAC's and sinus tach.
Doctor :   Did you feel chest pain/sweating/breathing difficulty, when you had this symptom?
User :   Nope just like I was going to pass out. Just eh tickly and weak throughout my body.
Doctor :   Did you lose consciousness?
Doctor :   Have you experience similar symptoms in the past?
User :   Nope, grabbed my stuff and headed out the door as soon as I started walking fast my heart just pounded really fast... and was like shaking me then all went pack to normal... minus being shakey for a bit.
User :   Kind of but I never felt that close to passing out. I don't think.. I've never passed out before. I went in orginally cause my pulse would race and I felt weak.. I didn't feel like my heart stopped. Would you feel it in your chest if your heart stopped? I have had anxiety/depression issues before... just can't seem to sort this out.
Doctor :   Do you have diabetes/hypertension?
Doctor :   Do you have history cardiac problems in the family?
User :   Nope... blood pressures usually low.
User :   Nope my grandpa had triple bypass surger but he was in his 70's. and all is well now.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me brief you.
Doctor :   The symptom that you had was more probably related to a cardiac rhythm disturbances.
Doctor :   The exact disturbances can only be detected by the recording (EKG).
Doctor :   It probably was a minor episode and you do not have to panic about it.
User :   Minor episode of what?
User :   Can it be cause by stress?
Doctor :   Minor episode of heart rhythm disturbances.
Doctor :   The exact cause for this is not known, however, stress, caffeine, lack of sleep can all precipitate these events.
User :   I'm so scared of like V-TAch!
Doctor :   Since your previous EKG/holter reports are normal and your episodes are not frequent, you may not need any treatment for this.
Doctor :   You would however need lifestyle modifications that includes good stress management, regular sleeping habits.
Doctor :   Restrict caffeine consumption.
User :   They put me on a beta blocker to make me feel better... I had a severe allergic reaction.
User :   I dont use caffine at all...
Doctor :   Beta blocker is one of the drug which is effective in treating the conditions, but since I haven't examined you, I cannot suggest an alternative drug.
Doctor :   I would suggest you to follow those simple measures that I had suggested.
Doctor :   And to consult a cardiologist if such symptoms repeat.
User :   Do I need to go in again? The whole episode lasted maybe 30 seconds?
Doctor :   You would have to see a doctor if such symptoms are recurring.
