User :   Within the past few days, I've noticed some sort of what I think is an abscess just above my anus nearly at the end of the "crack." It's red and I experience discomfort when when I sit down. It's tough for me to see clearly because of it's position, but it looks like there is some sort of white head to it. The surface bump is probably less than an inch in diameter. I'm planning on leaving to catch a plane for a week-long service trip in another state in a few hours. My question is: can I afford to wait until I return from the trip to see a doctor about this?
Doctor :   hi
User :   Hello,.
Doctor :   I am reading
Doctor :   is there any discharge/pus coming out ?
User :   Nothing is coming out but it looks like there's a head that could eventually have something coming out.
Doctor :   What is your age ?
User :   21
Doctor :   Did you get this before ? Is it first time you got?
Doctor :   Did you notice blood in stools?
User :   I think I may have felt discomfort like this before, but this is the first time I've ever noticed any sort of bump
Doctor :   Do you have pain while emptying stools?
User :   No. In the past I thought maybe I did, but wasn't sure and never saw it again. Nothing recently though.
User :   No pain while emptying.
User :   Unless I have diarrhea which happens from time to time.
Doctor :   Do you have any medical problems like diabetes?
User :   No
Doctor :   So the bump is located between buttocks
Doctor :   is the right?
User :   Yes, in between the buttocks towards the top.
User :   The right?
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   There are 2 possibilities.
Doctor :   1. Folliculitis > Hair root infection
Doctor :   2. Pilonidal Cyst
User :   Ok
User :   What should I do?
Doctor :   A pilonidal cyst is a cyst that develops along the tailbone (coccyx) near the cleft of the buttocks.
Doctor :   is the bump coming and going
Doctor :   or is it first time?
User :   It hasn't been coming and going over the past few days. This is the first time I've noticed the bump. I think I've felt the discomfort there before though.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   First thing: you need physical examination to make correct diagnosis
User :   Ok.
Doctor :   An infected pilonidal cyst is an abscess that requires incision and drainage in order to improve.
Doctor :   This procedure can generally be performed in a physician's office or in the emergency department
Doctor :   The wound is packed
User :   How long can I wait before seeing a doctor?
Doctor :   and you will given antibiotics and pain medications
Doctor :   Ass long as you can olerate
User :   Ok, but I don't run too much risk of serious harm other than pain if I wait?
Doctor :   *tolerate
Doctor :   There is no serious harm if u wait
Doctor :   you can pain and may be discharge
Doctor :   You can manage with pain medicines and antibitics
Doctor :   See a doctor as soon as possible
User :   Ok. Is it possible that I could experience discharge that would relieve the pain?
User :   And I won't risk serious harm if I don't get antibiotics right away?
Doctor :   If it Pilonidal Cys i, if it is infected, it will burst, and cause discharhge
Doctor :   Discharge will will relive pain but that does not resolve the problem
User :   Ok
Doctor :   If you can keep it clean, use antibiotic soap, use external neomycin antibiotic powder or cream that is also good
Doctor :   But If it not Pilonoidal cysy but regular cyst , the management is the same
User :   Ok, I will.
Doctor :   It ripens, gives pain, bust
User :   Ok, thank you.
Doctor :   Sooner or later , I recommend visiting a surgeon and get a course of antibiotics and assurance.
Doctor :   It is my pleasure chatting with you
Doctor :   Thank you for consulting me.
User :   I plan on doing it in about a week. Thanks for your help!
Doctor :   That works . Please leave your valuable feed back.
Doctor :   Take care
Doctor :   Bye
User :   Bye
