i have a problem with insomnia which started suddenly about 2 years before. I feel sleepy at 10 -11 in the evening and wake up exactly the same our -3 am!!! can"t sleep after.My blood,thyroid and hormones tests are at normal range.the only thing i notice is that when i wake up in the night my soles of the feet and specially my palms are burning.I am 43 years old and it's difficult to function on 4 -5 hours sleep a night.My doc offer me sleeping pills and xanax but i really want to find the cause and not a temporary solution for symptoms.What can i do? Thank you

User :   yes and my blood pressure is 9.5-6
Doctor :   ranging from stress to hormonal imbalance
Doctor :   blood pressure ranges from 120/80mm hg

Doctor :   generally in women hormonal changes may lead to insomnia

User :   but my gyn saind i am not perimenopausal

Doctor :   I would advice you to take a multivitamin tab for the same for 2 months.
Doctor :   due you have any stress apart from this which keeps you awake
Doctor :   medicines help, along with it you need to take more care on giving rest to the mind, try meditation and yoga , daily physical activity will help a lot .
Doctor :   keep away from caffeine and beverages atleast 4 hrs before going to bed.
User :   no i don;t i suppose that if ihad stress icouldn;t sleep in the first place
Doctor :   with physical activity you will feel better , eventually medicines will be cut down .

Doctor :   as thyroid is also normal, i cannot think of anything severe for the insomnia.
User :   yes the last months i had very little blood

Doctor :   did you try sleeping at 8 and compensate 7 hours of sleep?
User :   except the blood test are there any other tests for hormone imbalances?
Doctor :   blood tests generally tell you the basic causes
Doctor :   they assess the hormone levels too.
Doctor :   apart from blood tests , i.e routine, you could go for specific hormonal assays
Doctor :   but i feel that is not needed in your case
Doctor :   you could try altering your biorythm
Doctor :   that is prepone the time of going to bed slowly by half an hour to an hour daily
Doctor :   and this can help you sleep on time.

User :   the problem is that whatever hour igo to sleep i wake up the same hour-3
Doctor :   relaxation therapies and cognitive behaviour therapies are very useful for insomnia
Doctor :   this will help for sure and permanently.
Doctor :   If yoiu are sleeping at 8PM, then you would wake up at 3Am
Doctor :   that makes up 7hours of sleep
Doctor :   and better work
Doctor :   7 hours of sleep is waht is required of a human per day at this age
Doctor :   The cause possibly is a sleep wake cycle is fixed for you
User :   i do not smoke do not ,drink cofee.and i exercise 4 days a week iam 48kg
