User :   New onset of Upper left abdominal cramping with bulge

User :   I am concerned about my boyfriend, he is 34 years old with a sudden onset of upper left abdominal cramping with a bulge
Doctor :   Sine when does he have the symptoms?
User :   Is started last night, and he has pain on and off
Doctor :   Is the abdomen gaseous ?
User :   no
Doctor :   ok, is the pain intermittent ?
User :   yes
User :   he has had normal bowel movement
Doctor :   Is the urination normal in him ?
User :   yes
User :   the bulge is just below his ribs, but in the upper left area
Doctor :   I meant ,No burning or pain while urinating ?
User :   no
Doctor :   ok, Does he have nausea ?
User :   no
Doctor :   Is the pain severe , grade it on a scale of ten

User :   I know that the spleen, tail of liver and stomach is in that area
Doctor :   ok, Did he ever had the similar pain in the past ?
User :   no history of this pain or bulge
User :   he has had bleeding with bowel movements in the past
Doctor :   ok, is there any difference in the pain on food intake ?
User :   no
Doctor :   i would suggest you to get a ULTRASOUND scan of his abdomen
User :   what are the possiblities
Doctor :   which could give detailed insights into his problem
Doctor :   i would consider the likely possibility here being acid peptic disease
User :   and the worst case senerio would be?
Doctor :   but its better to rule out other possibilities like kidney stones
User :   could the bulge be a hernia? and if so what type would it be?
Doctor :   at age 34 i would consider the hernia as the least possible cause
Doctor :   and it does not present this acute , its almost always with a chronic and gradual presentation
User :   other than acid peptic disease or kidney stones is there any other thing it could be? Should we treat it as an emergency situation or something that could wait until after the weekend?
Doctor :   according to the history , i could consider the given as the most likely chances
User :   this would cause the bulge?
